Patches -> RE: Decision Time: TrailBlazer vs. H3 (3/9/2008 7:53:41 AM)

I test drove both the TBSS and H3 Alpha before I plunked down my hard-earned for the Alpha. No question - the Hummer is so much more vehicle, IMHO. The TBSS is fast but the interior is very dated and the suspension feels unsettled. I felt the quality of the Hummer was also significantly better as well and the styling of the H3, personal taste notwithstanding, is very unique and unforgettable in comparison. I still get comments every day from my friends and co-workers about how cool this vehicle is. The driving enjoyment never diminishes and I have yet to go offroad (got it just going into winter). It has also more than proven itself in inclement weather - peace of mind is there when the wife drives it in bad weather. Capability-wise, the only thing the TBSS has over the Hummer is accelation. The Alpha has a 6000 lb tow-rating and can turn on a dime. The ride of my H3 with the offroad package is very smooth and comfortable. 5yr./100K warranty also helps with the peace of mind. Also, I have scanning/tuning software I bought for my vettes that can be used with the Hummer as well, just another bonus. I looked at everything else out there as well, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Volkswagen Touarag, Volvo XC90, Lexus RX, BMW X5, GMC Yukon, etc. ad naseum, and the value and capability of the Hummer won out for me. The 5.3L in the Alpha can hold it's own against most comparable vehicles out there and there's always the aftermarket, which is strong for these vehicles. And remember, it's still a GM product so you're staying in the family.
