I’ve got just over 2000 miles on my Alpha now and the mileage has gotten worse but I did adjust my torsion bars and that may have something to do with it besides having the 33” tires. On the interstate the speed limit is 65mph but I always set my cruise for 77mph. My driving style could be described as aggressive.

The first time I checked I was getting 14.7mpg, next was 13.8mpg, then 13.6 mpg and the last check was 11.6 mpg.

I've only got about 500 miles on my Alpha and using Winter (more highly oxygenated) gas, am getting 14/15MPG on my daily commute.  It's all highway driving, no city, and I tend to run between 72-80 MPH (yeah, kind of a leadfoot).

It's not may last car but I'm happy with the mileage so far.

I'm up in the higher mpg's 13-16
I have just about 3600 miles on my Alpha now.......wish I didn't, but living up here in Maine the miles add up. I notice if I go above 70mph on the highway, that the Alpha sucks the gas right down.....Mine really likes doing around 55-60mph on the back roads, and does the best mileage then.

I would be curious to see what the Alpha mileage would be with bigger wheels and tires. My 3.5 I5 was getting a steady 17 mpg with combined city/ hwy driving before putting 35" tires on it. Now I get 13 mpg with combined driving. I'm not complaining. I was aware of the extra load those heavy tires would put on motor. Just wondering how much of a drop in mileage there would be considering the bigger motor and different gearing.

Would I like to get 25-30 mpg? You bet.

Would I give up my Hummer for it? HELL NO!

Sounds like except for a few with lead feet the Alphas don't do to bad. Mine is right in the range on the window sticker.

That's one of the reason i didn't go for the Alpha.  Along with its not worth the extra money because i can barely feel the difference.

use 87 octane instead of 93 and i guarantee you will get better gas mileage, using higher octane on a vehicle not meant for it is not good for mileage or the valves.

I did a 600 mile trip this weekend in the H3 Alpha. Orange County to Laughlin, NV to West Covina and back to Orange County. 130 miles of this was on the Mojave Trail in the high desert. ( deep sand, some ascent/descent, Mojave river and water crossings salt lake bed, etc ) I averaged right at 15 mpg for the entire trip. I thought that was great.

I have 4800 miles now and I'm averaging 17.1-17.5mpg.  I think that is pretty darn good for a combo of city and highway driving.  If I took a long trip, I might be able to get it up to 19mpg.
BTW, this is on regular unleaded 87 octane.  It will probably help when I get my first oil change on the 1st.....

Mine went to poo when I added all the weight of the skids/sliders/tires, and did a T-bar lift. Went from about 16 to about 11. You also have to figure that if you added larger tires, they are throwing the speedo as well as the odometer off. You are actually traveling more miles than what the odometer is showing, so calculating miles to gallon is tough. It may show you've gone 220 miles since last fill up, but you've actually gone 250.

220 miles/ 20 gallons= 11 MPG
250 miles/ 20 gallons=12.5 mpg

Sounds like except for a few with lead feet the Alphas don't do to bad. Mine is right in the range on the window sticker.

One thing to remember here is the EPA fuel estimates are average estimates as stated on your window sticker.

13 mpg city (average) - the expected range for most drivers is 10 to 16 mpg.
16 mpg highway (average) - the expected range for most drivers is 13 to 19 mpg.

It also states Combined Fuel Economy as 14 mpg and says “Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle.”

You're painting with a pretty wide brush when you say you're within the range on the window sticker.

Yesterday I took a little road trip about half interstate and half country roads, not much stop & go driving and my fuel mileage was better then it’s ever been. My speed was between 80/55mph and I got 15 mpg.

Because of the modifications I’ve made to my truck I’ve seen my mileage go from 14.7mpg to 11.6mpg. But I was hoping I my mileage might improve a little since installing the custom dual exhaust and this could be an indication that it has.

Think about what Voodoo said.

And it would appear that everyone is within the range indicated. That was my point. The new mileage estimates are better than the old ones. And mine is consistently between the 13-16 range so at least I was not unpleasantly surprised.
