Thank you David.

This was the email I received from Mike concerning fitting an alpha interior:

"Hello Tarek,
I am having problems with the interior. AM General said that all the new stuff won’t work in you hummer. The problem is that they don’t make or sale all the stuff needed.
The dash with the wire harnesses and new mounting brackets just won’t work. I am working with the people from hummer and they are getting upset with me on the amount of time that they are helping me with this.
    Mike s."

I forgot to mention that in a following email Mike wrote to me that we could fit a 2003 H1 dash but would need to splice the new dash connectors to the old style wiring harness.........I guess if that's the only solution possible then I'll go with it.

Now that you mention it I had a guy that was looking at buying an Alpha dash cluster. When I measured everything up there were some differences. I'll still talk to Shelly tomorrow and see what I can find out but if they are telling Mike that I am sure that is the case. I like the interior in my 97 just fine. The Alpha interior is really nice though.
I was told that if AMG built a new H1 for export it had the old interior and the 6.5 TD. When you talked to them about a new one did they tell you they would sell a new one with the Alpha set up?

Thanks David.........you are a great help :).

Hmmm......when I talked to them about supplying a 2008 H1, I took it for granted they were talking about an alpha H1. It was a phone call and nothing was mentioned whether it was powered by a 6.5 TD or otherwise. Only that it was possible to supply a 2008 H1 at an export price of US$180k. Also, given the price, I assume that it must be an aplha H1.....but you never know.

Anyway, if there is no other solution for the dash, I will go with the 2003 H1 dash and maybe add some aftermarket carbon fiber pieces.

Ok. I'll let you know what I find out. Hopefully you can get what you want but if not the older style interior looks pretty good also.

I called Shelly at AMG today but did not get to talk to her. I'll call again tomorrow.

Tarek,

I spoke with Dan Collins at AMG today about dropping an 04-06 interior into a 96. Mike had talked to everyone at AMG about it and apparently the topic was thoroughly discussed. I knew that if Mike said it couldn't be done it couldn't be done. No one knows H1s like Mike.Dan said that there was no way the two door trucks could be adapted. AMG did not make a 2 door 04-06 so many of the pieces don't even exist. On the wagon the attachment points , etc don't match. He said it would be a disaster to try and he doesn't think anyone could make a customer happy trying. He said Rick Wallich from AMG had seen your trucks. I wish I had better news but this has been very thoroughly analyzed and the AMG people concur that it can't be done. Dan did mention that some custom shops might possibly be able to design and install a custom interior that you would be happy with. Anyway I went to the source and it looks like the 04-06 interior won't work in your trucks. Let me know if I can help anymore.

David
