haven't heard of any deals, except buying it annually where it's $199 plus tax. That would save you ~$40

I don't know if this helps, but I got a letter in the mail stating that if I don't call, they will continue to charge me, so I called and cancelled it, but they kept trying to keep me as a customer, dropping the price, saying "okay, how about this amount,,, or how about this".. can't recall the price off hand, but just a thought perhaps give it a try.

Well, I waited until the first year's subscription almost expired. Onstar sent me a letter saying that if I wish to continue, they'll charge me $14.95 a month instead of $18.95.
I was going to extend the service anyway ;)

I love OnStar

Gunz -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/7/2008 7:57:33 AM)

I ran out of my free trial and I told them on email and verbally I want the fancy package ( Directions & Connections?) but am not willing to pay more than 25 dollars a month as its way too expensive. Well I did this three times and then finally spoke to a lady that gave me 14 months for 350.00. Its the 25.00 dollars a month I had asked for so I did it realizing I didnt need the fancy plan but for the price what the heck. I figured it was only 8 dollars more than the other plan. Now I call them to even get direction to the bathroom! [image]http://www.hummerforums.com/image/s1.gif[/image]

skeeet -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/31/2008 2:11:42 AM)

I got the basic plan renewed for $12.xx per month and that included 100 minutes extra. It was a forum member here that said they were getting this price and I got it too. They wanted more but I said i knew some people were getting it for $12.xx a month so they gave it to me too.

Trey124 -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/31/2008 5:17:31 AM)

Trade your H3 in and buy another one, you'll get the entire year for free....j/k.  Sounds like if you hold out and/or ask for a better price they will work with you.

dmurdock -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/31/2008 3:24:07 PM)

To the people that are renewing it, are you getting it just in case of accident?? I don't need directions or the phone service so I'm having a hard time justifying it. Is there some other use for it I don't know or is it strictly for the peace of mind in case you are in a wreck?

thanks

Gunz -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/31/2008 8:36:42 PM)

No not just piece of mind. I dont have a nav system in mine and i like the fact I can call and get directions 24/7. Heck we were driving and my son wanted to find a surf shop, so I called and bam in a few seconds had a number/name and directions and had no idea where I was at. I use to think it was stupid but I guess I have spent money on dumber things. I actually called them last week and they found a hotel that would accept dogs, they made the reservations for me. The wreck thing had nothing to do for me as I guess you never think its going to be you but if it did like fellow board members then that would be nice to. So for 25 bucks a month I have it, not going to swear by it but I actually call them for tons of stuff. I even got weather and all kinds of junk off them. As all say here, imho I think it is an ok thing to have!  Plus there are times when I have no cell phone reception at all and I usually keep about 30 minutes in ONSTAR for that too.

3hummers -> RE: Onstar renwal (3/31/2008 8:45:10 PM)

I think Onstar is worth it. I have had it on my H2 and H3.

LookAgain79 -> RE: Onstar renwal (4/1/2008 5:03:49 AM)

Onstar, is truely worth its weight in gold. Being able to get the vehicle reports on your email, and pretty much on thefly as well. The piece of mind knowing that is you are in and accident, that they will notify police for you as well. Being able to call for police if you see an accident happen as well is very nice (not to mention possibly life saving). I have the safe and sound plan, no need for the phone or directions service (wife has a garmin gps unit if i need it, wait, men don't use those things, we know where we are going all the time, thats why we won't go in and ask for directions, damn you onstar, damn you)
But i think $18.95 a month is a small price to pay for the added comfort and piece of mind that you get from them. And if you can get it cheaper then kudos to you, and shame on them.

bflank -> RE: Onstar renwal (4/1/2008 7:40:26 AM)

There are good reasons to have the Onstar other than accidents.  I recently had a disagreement with a chainsaw while at our property in the woods.  While we drove to a spot that an ambulance could reach, a quick press of the emergency button got local 911 on the line and a rendezvous coordinated in a hurry.  I believe I'll renew.

BTW, 25 stiches and a few week recuperation and all is once again well.
