since i'm pretty much partial to the whole foreign-US debate (while i'd like to buy American [and i clearly just did, with the H3], i'll buy whatever i feel to be the best deal and best-made), i'll say that the thing i find kind of amusing is that the same people who claim that the term "Jap crap" (or whatever other phrase - it doesn't really matter which) isn't offensive are the same ones who get offended by people who say "American cars are crap." take a step back and realize you're both doing the same thing.

that's all. carry on with the old men grabbing boobies, please.

no one really got offended by people saying american made cars are crap....but we will not tolerate someone using derogatory ethnic phrases...like the N word.

As far as This board taking sides when people saying amercan cars are crap...WHat do you expect? this is a freekin hummer forum?!?! Same chit goes on on import forums when you say jap cars are crap. Being an American citizen and a son of a former Linden NJ GM plant worker and being a former GM mechanic myself...of course I prefer American...I like to support my country...thanks

i agree; i like to support the US whenever possible also. if it comes down to accepting an inferior product, i won't do it, however. that being said, i think US car manufacturers are definitely heading in the right direction as of recent years, for the most part. there is still some catching up to do, but i was more than happy (and proud) to buy a US-branded car that i feel is solid.

Alphadogg: I agree with everything you said, except that jap crap lasts longer.

Seen anybody doing restos on 1975 Civics, you know, the ones with recycled steel??

I am no fan of the UAW, but not all UAW workers are loafers, but the bad apples do spoil the bunch. That's another story, they have been busy pricing their labor out of the market for years. Competition is what our market has always been based upon, but how about a level playing field???

Ok, so now that the starter of this thread got his 3 smashed, guess we won't be hearing how that hummer picker upper works out.

Face it, you don't get it. As far as I'm concerned you are welcome to stay. If you are of Japanese decent and take offese with my use of the term, I appoligize and misunderstood your sensitivity on the issue. However, jap crap is a term refering to products .....made by jewish american princesses.

i'm not trying to start trouble and I did find your definition in the dictionary.com site of a jewish american princess, but are they making cars now? I believe and it may be only my opinion but it was used in reference to Japanese made cars and if you see the following as jap also has the jewish definition please n

You know what buddy......your really starting to piss me off, you got an apology from Doc, and I honestly think he had nothing to apologize for, there were no derogatory comments made to any race as far as I'm concerned, you just don't want to understand what we are talking about here, have a look at another example below

Jap crap

Japanese made ****. Most Japanese stuff is NOT ****, it is The ****. Generally, Japanese stuff is of very high quality, examples of the bad Jap crap are given below:
(1) Japanese cars before 1970 are Jap crap. In the 1970's they dramatically improved. By 1980 Japanese cars were great.

My parents are Hungarian, I was born in Quebec, went to english school, my wife is french, my kids are part Hungarian, french and english, you know what, we all have some immigrant backgrounds in some way
