I was thinking of hooking up my backup camera to the trailer harness to power it. If I want to be able to view the camera at all times not just in reverse would I be able to use the red battery feed wire? Does this wire have constant power even when the key is off? My camera has led lights on it and I can,t have the camera power on if the truck is off. Thanks guys. 2003 H2

I am not sure if this really helps you, but I have a H3 with a HitchCAM that gets its power from the (factory installed) trailer hitch plug. The HitchCAM came with a relay that need to be installed; otherwise, the HitchCAM would constantly draw power. It is also my understanding that the hitch plug staying live when the ignition is off is common to GM models. Unfortunately, this has been my only GM with a hitch, so I can say if that is an accurate statement (such as in the case of your H2).
