So, being Mr Tinkerer Gadget man, I bought one of those fuel line magnets, knowing damn well it wasn't going to do anything. The day before it arrived, I watched a special on tv which I know some of you saw, about the different miracle gadgets for cars. Anyway, they said the magnet actually decreased the gas mileage by about 1 mpg.
I thought "how can a magnet do anything, positive or negative, to mileage?"
Well, guess what? It decreased my mileage on the H3. I drive the same route every day to work and back, always have the AC on, always the same traffic, travel times, etc. I went through about 2 tanks of gas with this magnet, and you know what, I did, in fact, get worse gas mileage, I would estimate by probably 2 mpg less. I know temperature, weather, etc, plays a part, but I get the same mileage almot exactly on every tank of gas, so I KNOW my baby. I shift the same, etc.
I can tell people without a doubt, that just as the special on TV said, the magnet, at least in my case, makes my H3 get worse gas mileage then I had without it.
YES I know I wasted money (it was only like $5) and I knew it wasn't going to work, but, I was curious anyway, and I figured, for $5 why not. DOH!
So, I hope nobody buys this thing, or any variant of it, becauase it will just bring you down to China Town. Thank you.

Did you ever take it in to get checked for that yet? If they give you some BS about how nothing is wrong, you better stand up and make a stink about it. Obviously there is a problem. I'll get mad FOR you if they give you trouble :)

Gas prices are down somewhat, I paid 2.74 9/10 today
(just under 2.75 a gallon if the decimal point is in the wrong place.)

Hey Hummerguy, I have some special air to put in your tank that should get you at least .02 mpg. Only $10 a bottle.
