Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL)

HUMMER DRIVER -> Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL) (2/19/2008 7:45:43 PM)

Hey all you Dallas area drivers, last fall we tried to put together a Hummer trip to Barnwell Off Road Park, only Dave and I made the trip.

Isn't it getting about that time to put together another trip hopefully this time with a few more rides? If not Barnwell then maybe that other park up northwest of DFW? I forget the name of the place and it's no where near as large as Barnwell but I'd be willing to go there too. For that matter I'm game to go back to Moab..............[:)]

Whattya say guys and gals?

I haven't been to Barnwell but I have seen lots of pics and videos. It looks like a lot of fun. There are some pretty challenging areas there and it is a pretty popular spot.

Barnwell has some serious level 5 trails that only a spider rig can traverse. Even the 2's and 3's are challenging in spots. It's a huge area, aroun 1850 acres and over 60 trails. There's plenty of elevation changes and a few wash crossings that may be wet depending when you're there.

The biggest downside is some trails are extremely tight with thick brush on both sides of the trail and sometimes it's hard to follow the trail maps. Download the one off their website, I think it's a pdf and in color. The maps at the office are black and white xerox copies that are even harder to read. It's fun to explore the trails but you may end up needing to compound some brush scratches on the sides of your ride.

Maybe we can spark some interest and get over there sometime soon.

Love to. I am originally from Waco but currently in Socal. You in one of the clubs there?

No, not currently in any club. You can get a discount on the entry fee if you're a card carrying member of TMTC I think, otherwise you pay $20 for the day if you're a non member.

Brian, I bet you are thinking of this run in March

Not sure if they met thier goal of 30 trucks or not. Anything less and they were gonna cancel.

I liked this from the notice:

If you follow the guidance of your spotters you will receive little to no damage while participating in our event.

Sam and YHA put on good events. Heard nothing but good things on them.

I wasn't aware of the "Club" event until Gunner posted. I was just talking about and informal gathering of fellow forum members to hit Barnwell sometime.

You can count me in depending when it is. How soon were you thinking? I'm stuck out of town until March 14th.

Brad_P -> RE: Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL) (2/25/2008 12:15:09 PM)

Im in. I was thinking about going to the hummer club even at the begining of march but found out it was 250$ kinda made me not want to go. But if you guys want to group up and go im in. Why does the hummer club events cost that much?

3hummers -> RE: Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL) (2/25/2008 1:00:25 PM)

I have never been to a Hummer Club event that cost that type of $$$$$. Sometimes the off road park has a per vehicle fee you have to pay but I have not heard of anything that high. Anything else come with that ( all meals & beer, room, etc. )?

Gunner_45 -> RE: Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL) (2/25/2008 1:09:18 PM)

I think they have full support for all hummer vehicles.

Brad_P -> RE: Dallas Area Off Road Trip Anyone? (BARNWELL) (2/25/2008 1:11:14 PM)

i think meals but thats it.
