I was looking at the indentation on the hood, the one that goes around the "hood vent". Thought maybe red just on the lip of the indent.

I wanted one because I had just recently purchased an 08 Dodge Charger AWD....although I liked that car, it just had to many things wrong with it......and Chrylser had anounced that they lost money and were financially bankrupt, which made the price of my charger hit the bottom of the bucket....so instead of losing more money I decided to get rid of it. I only had 1700 miles on the odometer....so i went down 2 hours to my Hummer dealer, and found a nice Solar Flare Metallic Alpha.....(most of you know the story of the two Solar Flare Metallic H3's, so I won't bore you with the details)

I was first interested in getting a Hummer for the chick factor, two friends of mine bought H2's and they were chick magnets to say the least (the H2's, not the friends).

I also loved the look and the safety factor.

It was a toss-up for me between an H2 or an H3, I ended up getting the H3.
The H3 ended up being a pretty good chick magnet, as a matter of fact I was suprised at how many of the hotties told me they liked the H3 more than the H2, I didnt expect that reaction.

After owning the H3 I found that I honesty really loved the truck and not just for meeting the hotties, H3's are lots of fun to drive.
Sadly, I sold my H3 cuz I really need a truck with a bed, I will be trading in the Tacoma the second the H3T comes out.

Cheers
Davyo

driving accross mid michigan in my ford focus and got ambushed by the usual 12-14 inches of snow in late december.  white knuckled it for about 4 hours all the way home as i watched car after car get chewed up by the ditches due to snow drifts and slushy ice.  as i'm driving 20 mph, tops, to avoid being the next victim of old man winter, met up with some friends to do some partying.  decide to take their ride since it was an H3, and the conditions were as such.  never been in an H3 prior to this event, yada yada yada, my wife and I purchased one two days later.  you truely don't know what you are missing until you own one.  the reaction of other people alone is enough for me.  let alone the safety and fun factors.  can't wait to get this beast over to the silver lake dunes when the sun comes out of hibernation. tic toc, tic toc.

We’ve always drove some type of 4x4. My wife a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I believe that Jeep wrote the book on 4wheel drive, myself a huge Ford F350 Powerstroke 4x4 (8000#) that made a terrible off road truck! I always admired the Hummer but thought the H2 was too big and too expensive. I loved the H3 but thought was under powered until the Alpha came along.

The H3 is rugged looking, off road capable yet elegant enough to take out to dinner and user friendly enough to drive cross country in.

A few personal touches and my H3 Alpha will be exactly the way I want it, until the H3T comes out of course.[;)]

The reason we got an H2 was because my girlfriend wanted an SUV, "somthing big" she would always say. I lived a good distance away from work about 55 miles but a good 2 hour's drive, so I needed a commuter car and I got a 350Z. It wasn't bad having a fast little sports car when I was single but then I met my girlfriend, she would want to go out with friends but we always had to hitch a ride with them. I didn't mind because I was saving gas and miles. Things worked well until we bought our first house together and I couldn't even put a pillow in the back of the Z. She hated it and gave me crap about trading it in for a Tahoe/Yukon for at least a year. When I finally broke down and told her that we could trade it in, she told me that she no longer liked the Tahoe/Yukon cause they look too much like mini-vans now. She wanted a Hummer, it was big, it was solid and it looked nothing like a mini-van (that really came up a lot and I still haven't figured out why, not like I had dreams of driving an Astro van when she said she wanted something bigger). My mouth dropped a little bit, mainly because I was thinking of trading my 30 MPG car in for a 10 MPG Hummer? I moved closer to work but I wasn't planning on living closer to spend more time at the pump. Then she told me her plan of keeping the Z as our commuter car and the H2 for playing. So now we have these 2 cars in our garage, my Z is getting beaten up daily and our H2 will get beat up on weekends (too much stupid work to really have fun in it). We have taken it to the snow a couple times already this year and I'm waiting for my friend's ranch to dry up so we can go play where rules don't apply.

They have attitude! I'm a small person in a big vehicle - It's the wow factor.

Trayderjoe -> RE: What Made You Want A Hummer..... (2/25/2008 4:58:02 AM)

I had been looking at getting a Hummer for a couple of years.  The introduction of the H3 made up my mind.  My reasons: 1) I like the feeling of being safe in it-especially during winters here in Michigan.  While I respect ice, I don't have that "white knuckle" feeling I used to have when driving in snow.  2) I love the look of the vehicle  3) The off roading capability.

Speed is not an issue for me.  If I feel "the need for speed", I hop in the wife's CTS and can rocket down the highways.....................

3hummers -> RE: What Made You Want A Hummer..... (2/25/2008 9:14:51 AM)

Solarflare my wife drives the H3 and she does get more attention at the stables, gas station, grocery store, etc driving the H3 than she does in the F250 4x4. I think the Hummer does have some man attracting powers.

seadoo21 -> RE: What Made You Want A Hummer..... (2/25/2008 10:25:27 AM)

I bought an H3 because I always settled for a Jeep of some sort, and seemed to have alot of problems with them.  No matter what, the Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee, Liberty, you name it I owned one or 2 of them.  When I bought my 05 Wrangler (my third one) and the trans was acting horrible with only 3000 miles I dumped it, traded it in for the one vehicle I always wanted but never bought and that was a Hummer.  So now I own it, along with a Prius and you can imagine the looks my home gets when people pass walking their dogs.  It is the perfect combination for me.[:@]

I love the H3 -not just the problem of the cylinder head I am now dealing with.  Which led me to this forum.  I liked that it is not really that much bigger than the Jeeps, and it rides so much nicer, and just is a hot vehicle.  Lots of people want them, but they don't get them.  But I did.

3hummers -> RE: What Made You Want A Hummer..... (2/25/2008 12:49:50 PM)

Seadoo, I have had all types of 4x4 vehicles. Liked almost all of them but you are right, the Hummer is different. I really enjoy driving my Hummers and while I liked my other 4x4s I did not feel the same way about driving them that I do the Hummer.
