I drained my battery sunday night by leaving the interior light on.

We went to give a boost on monday morning with my wife's Volvo XC90, guess what no battery under the hood. Looked in the trunk area nothing. Had to use the manual. Darn thing was mounted in the back under 2 folding covers. It has a metal holder bolting it in. You have to remove 2 bolt to get at the battery. Needless to say we used a neighbors car to get the H3 started.

Importkiller please add this asinine vehicle to your list of reasons to buy American.

I'd assume knowing volvos saftey first philosophy that this has something to do along those lines. Maybe to prevent the battery exploding and burning passengers in a head on collision? I agree though....damn dumb design!

Odds are, there were jump start posts somehwere under the hood. a lot of vehicles are going to remote mounted batteries. I have seen them under the back seat, in the trunk next to the spare tire, and under the right front passsenger seat, ala HMMVW or original Hummer. Almost all have had terminals under the hood for easy access.

Some of the German autos have the battery in the trunk with posts under the hood. I was told this is balance the wieght of the car.... My BWM has it in the trunk.
