Doc Olds -> MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/6/2008 8:06:16 AM)

Hey Alpha Boys and Girls.....I have done a little (very little) business with Magnaflow.  Even though I have an 07 I5 with their system....I have been barking in their ear about the interest from Alpha owners on our Forum for an aftermarket performance exhaust.  Looks like they have been listening, the kit is close to being released.  Check it out!!!!!    Maganaflow Part # 16832

Page:  http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=Trucks&id=1479

No install sheet yet, but they have a sound/video clip.

For the I5 gang, part # is 16630  and w/ install sheet and sound/video clip.

Email them if interested, tell them Doc sent you to pester them about getting a system for the Alpha! [:D]

Works for me fine?  Click the part number.

PS.  Get rid of McAfee, it's not so good (I am being kind), or override your site advisor warning.  AVG free works better and costs nothin!

Magnaflow makes an awesome exhaust.  I ran a set on my C5 and it was a top-quality system.  I'm seriously considering this one for my Alpha.  Here a few shots of my previous system.

Are you talking about a fart pipe tip, or a full system?  Give it up, details, pics, manufacturer.  Spill your guts man.   [:D]

And is this something that is dealer installed only at your location in VA?  Or could it be shipped?  Lifetime guarantee?

importkiller -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/6/2008 9:13:03 PM)

good lord what would a gm exhaust cost[:'(]

doc, does the i5 cat back have the canister muffler next to the driveshaft or the big ole can muffler in the oem location?

Significant -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/6/2008 9:41:17 PM)

it is aftermarket and header back i have only seen it once and it is sold by our dealership... it is a dual exhaust but we have only installed one and that was on a show room alpha when they first arrived... since then i havent seen another available through our parts department...

IK;  it looks pretty darn identical in shape to the OEM, except the mid muffler and muffler are shiny Stainless, and obviously the muffler has dual tips out the rear.  The mid muffler size is a little shorter in length than the OEM, but not that much.  Since I suffer from CRS (can't remember sh!t) and I did not take a pic when they were laying side by side on the garage floor?? I'm guessing that mid muffler was only a couple inches shorter than the OEM.  The muffler itself is basically identical to OEM in size and locationj just add two sweet tips.

ahh ok, damn I was hoping it was like the gibson. The muffler is where the resinator is on yours with just two pipes going out the back...no muffler under teh bumper to bang on rocks & trees.

Steve #1 -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/7/2008 7:11:02 AM)

I don't understand going with a cat back system when everything goes back in the same place as stock.  Back when stock pipes had crimps in 'em there was a reason to switch 'em out.  Why not just swap the muffler and save a few hundred in cash?

importkiller -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/7/2008 7:16:21 AM)

my guess would be the stainless piping? If I were going to keep the muffler in stock location I would just replace the muffler but I'm looking to move the muffler near teh driveshaft lke gibson does...I just don't like gibson that much.

Doc Olds -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/7/2008 12:11:13 PM)

I can't speak for all of the brands of CAT backs, but Magnaflow and Borla have perfect mandrel bends.  Magnaflow has a machine that costs a fortune and can bend some big dia. pipe smooth as a can be.  Quite impressive if you have ever seen one.  I checked out the machine at Wolf (they do aviation stuff).

The stock H3 system does not, the bends are improved standard crimp.  In reality, with an I5 is this the be all end all, ....probably not.  With the Alpha a bit smoother flow would make more of a difference IMO.

ALPHA XY -> RE: MAGNAFLOW H3 Alpha Exhaust - Very Close to AVAILABLE!!!! (2/8/2008 1:37:00 PM)

Now they just have to deal with the 4 cats!?  The Magnaflow video clip sounds VERY disappointing...not far from stock sound!
