I hate to beat a dead horse here but I've seen so many different opinions on which bars everyone uses. I don't care for the aftermarket bars on E-Bay at all because they look like they are a three piece unit. The OEM bars look very nice and seem to be very popular but the Rockyrails look like the sturdiest. I think they are priced about the same.

I'm not familiar with the ones on ebay...I tried to find them but nothing came up for me but the OEMs.

I would think it would depend on what you want to do with it. Like if you are hitting trails and climing rock get the sliders. If your never leaving the pavment then get the steps. The step bars sit lower then the sliders so you are going to lose clearence with the step.

The comparison really is OEM rockrails or Rocky Road. As Defkon said, you don't get step bars (nerf bars) if you offroad. If you don't offroad there's little reason to get the Rocky Roads. It's a matter of how you use the truck, not what you want to buy.

Well I guess you answered my question. I don't rock climb but I do go off road. I'd like the OEM step bar for easier access to the truck but the Rocky Roads for protection. I guess I can't have both. On my previous vehicle (F350) I was always bending the running boards from getting stuck or going over logs and things like that at my hunting camp so I guess I need the Rocky Roads. Thanks for the imput.

I ended up getting SS step bars from ebay. The brand is truck champ and they are really nice!!! Very heavy made and really nice brackets....just like the oem but not the oem price.

Solarflare,
I understand why the Rocky Roads wouldn't work for you as you wanted SS/Chrome. I think the OEM bars only come in black and chrome, not SS. In my opinion the SS is the way to go, much better then the chrome because after a few years chrome looks like sh*t. I want black and was actually thinking of getting whatever type of bars I choose sprayed with LineX before I installed them.

I like the OEM protection as I can add steps to it. Rocksliders are great if your climbing alot, but sucks if you need to use them to step down, specially when its wet.

Here are two shots of the OEM rocker with the attached steps.  They are very easy to attach and take off if the clearance is needed.  The second photo is a little farther away but does show both of them on it.  I love it and I think it looks more aggressive.
