I'm installing a Pioneer AVICZ2 GPS unit and just opened my my GMOS 04 harness and was looking through the instructions and the second step is to connect the red wire coming from the 24 pin adapter to the radios Ignition wire, the problem is the 24 pin adaptor does not have a red wire coming from it ? Am I just not understanding something or did they forget to put the wire in, can I add it myself and if so where  as there do not seem to be any empty pins on the 24 pin adaptor ? Except for this step everything seems to be very easy and straight forward.

First question is, does your truck have the Bose, Monsoon or On-Star system?  You'll need an adapter if you do. Mine had the Monson & On-Star and they make one adapter that does both.

2nd, are they talking about the 24 pin wire from your pioneer unit? That will have a red wire on it.  The wire from your GM wire harness will not be red unless you already added the Bose/Monsoon or On-star adapter.

You can not wire direct from the pioneer unit to your vehicle if you have the above mentioned.

My truck does have Onstar with the standard system.
According to the directions that came with the GMOS 04 wireiing harness (That is the adapter)that I purchased there is a red wire coming from the 24 pin connecter on that, and I'm supposed to wire that red wire to the Ignition wire on the radio.
You can see the exact directions here

The step I am refering to is on Page 3 step 2
Thanks
