Let say i should of known better with plastic it faded in the spots i used it in but the are small enough im not going to worry about it.
I got the tar off

You could try the goof-off that's safe for plastics. It's a mild water-based version of the original.  Seems to work pretty good for stubborn grime.  Worked pretty good on getting the dealer's name off my spare tire cover!

Tar can typically be removed easily with WD-40 and will not harm anything.

I use a clear coat safe bug and tar remover on my fenders.  I don't let it sit on the paint for more than 30 secs and it works great.

I have always used a well lubricated (I know I'm going to get grief for this) clay bar! Worked really well on the vette!
