Some guys have done that, doing a line x look front with truck bed liner.  It is just plastic and could be sanded for a finish I would think.  Check with a couple more body shops, even ask the dealer if they have ever done it??

Forgot my manners, Welcome!

Hummer dealers can get you a color matched grill if you want.  I'm sure a paint/body shop could paint the plastichrome too.  As mentioned above I may look at getting a flat black Linex job on mine.  The Linex bed-liner coating should be more resistant to chips from road debris than body-paint finish.

the problem with the grills is that the chrome plating is embedded in the plastic, so you can't get it off.  you can rough it up, any good body shop should be able to do it for you.  if they don't do a good job though it will chip and end up looking like $hit.  i did mine myself with some spray on bedliner - painting isn't my day job - now my grill looks like $hit.  having it painted may be a cheaper route than buying a color matched grill from the dealer - but it will take longer and you'll be without a grill for a few days.  it all depends on how much money and time you've got.

How much do you guys think something like that would cost? If I keep this H3 or get another one, I'd like to color-match the grill as well.

I think the dealer cost for color matched grill is about $325 . . . not sure.  I also had a Linex quote over the phone for about $120.

hey thanks for all the responses the thing is the grills are going for about 400 or so with shipping when the body shop just quoted me on 150 and it would only take a day to do.

I have the color matched grill and it hasn't chipped at all. Have heard good things about the bedliner option though.

I have been selling these grilles to forum members for 299 shipped if anyone is interested.

As far as sponsorship... I've been chatting back and forth with them this week. Since I am a high profile seller they are trying to get me to advertise on other sites so it has been a larger project than anticipated. I will be a sponsor here I just have to wait until its official!

Welcome aboard and congrats on the H3, go for the real deal and do it right the first time. If you get it painted and it starts to peel then you just wasted your money and will have to do it again or buy the grill from GM. Spray on liner (just my opinion) DON'T DO IT!!!
Get the GM part, save yourself a bunch of head aches.
