Installed the K&N intake system tonight. It took all of 1 hour. Very straight forward install. Good quality and everything fit as expected. Performance increase is definetly noticable and there is a loud intake noise. A bit of sucking sound but mostly a kind of strange growl sound. hard to explain. Overall I am happy with the install. I reset the mileage and will see if there is any gain in the next week. Mileage update to come. Questions welcome.

I think so. It may be just me, but I think the front end pulls up a bit harder during hard starting and it does feel a bit more powerful.
I am really hoping for a few extra MPG.

The thing I noticed after installing mine..was not so much a POWER increase as there was more throttle response..seemed there was less of a lag..and that is what an Expert on Cold air intake systems told me they will give you.

That's a good way of putting it...And I like it..Gives it a throaty sound..Really sounds even better in two part harmony with a nice cat-back exhaust sytem too.

has anybody else just taken the lid off of their airbox? I took it off last night & drove around for a bit and it actually felt a little more responsive/faster (HUMMER mind tricks?)

is my H3 normal in the sense that I have a conical airfilter in my airbox? because if so, I would imagine that taking off the lid of the factory airbox is a free mod.

also, the sound is kind of funny, it sounds a bit like this "sneeze---gulp of air---growling" thats the best way I can describe it, but the good news is that it takes maybe 30 seconds to try it out. you just open the 3 clips that hold the top of the airbox on, make sure your filter is on tight & rev it up/drive it

edit: I'll take some pictures & videos tonight if I get the chance

Drive like you did before you installed it and you'll see the improvement...But to lose mileage is impossible.

Yeah, Dennis is RIGHT (as always) The only possible reason to lose MPG is because you're driving it harder, CAUSE YOU CAN

I actually went down just over 1 MPG after I installed my Volant CAI and Magnaflow exhaust. But I KNOW it's cause I love how it feels when I give 'er

And to be honest, I don't give a crap about the lost MPG, I'm having WAY too much fun driving!
