This is my first lease.....this may be dumb, but I'll ask it anyways......I have a GM SmartLease. 39 months with 39,398 mileage

When the lease is up, I just drive it down to the dealer that I bought it from and walk away....no strings attached? No fees or anything?

This thought crossed my mind today, as I was thinking of what the next H3, I would get would be...

Never mind him.

Unless you have damage to it, then yes. It's just like you said.

You're fine. Just take care of it and watch your miles and you get to turn it in and get a new one, walk away, or buy out the one that you have.

Be sure to stay under the mileage cap or you will pay for the extra miles over the cap. Outside of that and damge you should be good.

As everyone said, just take care of it and you're fine. If you go over the miles, or damage the vehicle, it's not the end of the world as you can just buy it at the end of the lease at the price in the contract. If you are buying it, they don't care what the miles are or what kind of damage it has.

Put it this way - I changed jobs a few years back and started racking up good miles on my leased car. It was a 48 month lease/48,000 miles. After 48 months I had 100,000 miles. If I turned it in and paid the penalty it would've been about $6200. So I just bought the vehicle and kept it for a while longer.

The one caveat - if you rack up the miles or damage it with scratches, etc., no matter what you are devaluing the vehicle. So, if you buy it and want to get rid of it later, those high miles can hurt your resale.

So, now that you know the answers, have fun and enjoy!!!

Will do....Now I just have to save some $$$ for the extras that make it look good (not that it is not good looking now!). And I have to go and B**** at the dealership about the flat spotted tires. It sat since August on the showroom floor, and they are a little out of round.....It's getting better but the right front is still out quite a bit.......
