Does this Disturb anyone else??

xzachx2112 -> Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 4:36:30 PM)

I cant stand when people either heavily mod or 'pimp out' an H1!!!!!!!! making me sooooo mad. they are rare cars that are much more appreciated and they are function built-and that function is offroad! when you put 26 inch chrome rims on it you defeat the purpose and slap am general in the face. the other thing is when people lift them to the sky and put sooo many add-ons on it. its ok to lift one a few inches but when it gets to a certain point you can tell its just for show and it'l never be offroad. h1s dont even need a lift, people make it look like a foolish monster truck. and I wonder why the h1 is commonly misunderstood

this is a prime example of what I'm Talking about

well, this one doesn't have 26" chrome rims, and looks like it would off road rather nicely.  or are you the one selling it and trying to get it out for everyone to look at . . . . . .[8|]

3hummers -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 4:45:54 PM)

Those are some big a$$ tires. Friend of mine runs 40s on his H1 and they work very well. I saw that truck on Ebay earlier. Not my cup of tea but to each his own

xzachx2112 -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 5:03:54 PM)

im not selling it and its not mine  and im sure it would be good offroad but im also sure who ever buys it will want it just for show.
and heres one with big chrome rims and some other bad ones in my opinion:

NOMOYELLO -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 5:08:45 PM)

That is the coolest H1 I have ever seen.

Beatnik -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 5:14:35 PM)

I saw the red one a while back. I died a little inside. Its things like that which make me drink. Alot.

3hummers -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 5:23:29 PM)

I guess that is where truisms come from...beauty is in the eye of the beholder... none of those are anything I would ever do or be interested in but obviously these people spent a fortune turning these Hummers into what they wanted. I am more of an originality freak, it goes back to my days of restoring old mid-year Corvettes. The General got the mid-year Corvette right and I think AMG got pretty close with the H1.

xzachx2112 -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 5:37:45 PM)

I agree with you 100%, keep it original, keep it real. the reason i posted those pics is to show how rediculous they are.

by the way nomoyellow is making my post backfire at me
and to beatnik beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder!

I've wheeled with the lifted black one. It has a 7 inch J-Fab lift and runs with 49" tires (I think he also has 52"). Too much chrome and the cg has been raised too much.

Injunfarian -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/4/2008 11:51:21 PM)

Now I agree with pimpin out h1's etc 26" wheels and stuff just dont do it for me. But the JFab 6" Lift is amazing and I would get it done to my truck anyday its a shame I cant afford it. But I do have a 2" Suspension lift. But yea Anything more than 6" suspension and 2" body lift i think is overkill I would actually prefer if J Fab made a smaller lift like 4" so we can do the 2" bodylift(DMax conversion requires it) and not be too big.

No question, to each his own. All I can say is that when I get my hands on MINE, even if it is a showpeice when I get it, it will have a few battlescars when I start playing with it.. I feel that these beasts are not always a daily driver, and they are built to be tested. Tested and broken. Truthfully, I cant wait to get one, beat it up a little, and have it break. Then I have a reason to tear into it and learn. No better way to know about your ride than to tear it apart, am I right? I have built and helped build countless cars and 4x4's. I have played with everything from twin turbo camaros to jacked up F350s, Acuras to Cadillacs. I have to admit, I am a lowrider at heart. Air ride and hydraulics. The H1 is my White Whale. The one I have yet to play with. Maybe thats why I want one so much. It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

ronb -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/5/2008 2:29:42 AM)

if you wheel a hummer with a lift that high you will roll sooner than later -- if your broken halfshafts don't stop you first.

Beatnik -> RE: Does this Disturb anyone else?? (1/5/2008 2:44:16 AM)

That is kinda what I was getting at. These machines are made to take abuse right from the factory. A lift and some bigger tires and/or rims may make it seem more agressive, but these were built for abuse. They are MILITARY vehicles. Built for the United States Military. They showed up as a status symbol the minute Arnie decided they were cool. Personally, I want to see what they are made of. To hell with 26 inch rims, tvs, dvd players and all that jazz. I want to have one. I also want to break one. Just to play.

I personally try to avoid the carnage. Sometimes $hit happens but I like to drive home.

Sure will make it more likely to roll over but still be more stable than a Jeep and almost any other modded rigs on the trail definately will be the most stable rig with 44"s under it. As for halfshafts if you are spending 10k on a lift im sure you can afford the 12,100 GVW halfshaft upgrade. No doubt a H1 is more than capable stock. but honestly the break over angle kind of sucks so there is some room for improvement. but then again to each his own.
