Hello Gents,

Well I pulled the plug on the Volant CAI and the fit and finish after the install was pretty much fine to my liking! It's a bit snug but I finished the job in just under an hour all together. Previously, I had the stock air box (of course) and a drop-in K&N filter. The drop-in filter worked well and I felt a difference on acceleration but the Volant CAI surely feels stronger. I'd be lying if I gave any kind of estimate on HP & TQ gained from the butt dyno but I can surely tell a difference. There's no change in air charge sound but the Magnaflow exhaust surely has a deeper tone to it now. I can tell the truck is breathing better out of both ends. The pick-up on the trucks acceleration has benefitted tremendously after adding the Volant intake. The thing I like about the 07's 15636 part number is it does not replace the stock air resonator box and has the additional hole for the exhaust breather filter. All in all I am happy with the purchase and the overall look of the engine bay now. The two separate entries pulling in air (fenderwell and bottom), the smoother tubing and the larger dimensions of the filter definitely make a difference going to the Volant. After reading so many negative reviews about adding a CAI, I'm glad mine worked out well.

I thought the Volant replaced the box, thats what I was look into getting. Were there 2 different options? Like posted before

I do not like plastic.

Other than that, looks decent.

What's with the box, don't get that either as there is already a stock box. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, but where does the volant draw in air from??? Same place as the factory box, so why scrap it? Why not improve it. Just some thoughts.

Haha!

The Volant intake pulls air from the "bottom" of the air box and the "fenderwell". The bottom of the Volant airbox had about a 2" funnel tubing that goes down towards the bottom of the radiator fan. The stock setup (box) has only a 3" snorkel going through about a 4" hole in the fender. The Volant eliminates the "snorkel" of the stock box and has a big 6" hole that sits flush againt the fenderwell opening. Also, the filter diameter to the intake inlet piping is huge as well. I think the stock filter has a 3.5" inlet while the Volant filter has a 6" inlet that's tappered to the size of the intake tubing.

this intake recommended for us florida boys always in the mud and water?

i been looking for a closed box..

i seem to get water in even the stock box!

i need a snorkel!
