I believe someone on the forum installed the rear camera sold at Target. Was it a difficult installation? Does the LCD monitor need to be hard wired or does it use a battery? Are you happy with the image it provides? Does it provide sufficient coverage behind the truck?
TIA for any reply.

Wal-Mart has one for less.  The signal is transmitted from camera to monitor.  Power is required at both ends.

I bought my camera at Target, they had two different types on the shelf, both prices the same $99.95. One had 2 buttons, the other had 4. I got the one with 4 buttons.

Installation wasn't difficult at all. The LCD panel uses power from the console power adapter. I had to buy an extension (3 ft) so I could run mine from the console down under the driver floor matt then up towards the pillar. I was able to bury the cable behind the plastic down below the dash then ran the wire up and was able to hide the wire behind the rubber part of the pillar then over to my driver side visor.

The camera also needs power, I mounted the camera on my license plate bracket and ran power to my hitch harness. I recall the center green wire on the hitch harness is the one that controls the backup lamps. That's the one I wanted. I only want my camera on when I throw it in reverse. It took maybe an hour to do the whole thing.

The image quality ain't bad for the price. The screen is smallish but the bottom line is you can see everything behind you as the camera is a wide angle and it's in color. The 4 button version allows you to power the LCD on/off, rotate the image 0,90,180,270 and control contrast and the other button lets me flip the camera right or left (mirror or regular).

The camera is small and most people won't notice it so I doubt someone would ever try to steal it. The quality of the display is fine for me. I rarely get interference and when I do it's only a hiccup and goes away within a second or less. It comes in really handy and is well worth the money IMO.

The only thing I might add it the camera location.  The license plate are only sees the immediate car behind you and it's in a slush area.  I plan to install mine higher for a better view.  Maybe even inside the car looking out the rear window?

good point, also if you agle it so it is looking to the right a little then when you are backing up out of a parking space at Wal Mart, you can see cars coming up the isle.

It's a wide angle camera and it really doesn't need relocation. I've got an excellent view left, right, center and up too. As far as mud and crap getting on it, I've not found that to be the case and even if it did, it takes two seconds to wipe the lens of with a rag.

This is the next toy I'll be installing sometime this week, time permitting.

It's getting there.

Ran it up into the headliner, over and down the driverside pilar, and under the dash to a hot wire that only came on when the truck was on.  I forget which one right now, but if you dont take a voltage indicator and check some out yourself, I'll get under there and see what its connected to.

Do you know if there is any power in the mirror that's useable?

In the Ohio winter with salted roads you'd be cleaning it every couple of miles.  Even my rear window becomes a mess.
