Please forgive the naive question, but what is a cold intake for?

it lets the engine breath more air easier, and if its a true cold air intake, it brings in cooler air (which is more dense). more air in lets the engine produce more power, an extreme example of this would be a turbo (although without intercoolers, those push out some hot air, as compressed air is hot)

love my Hummer cold air intake, really works fine, utilizes a high-flow air filter. that draws breath from outside compartment where the air is cooler.

This person again.  Reviving an old thread, and his second post is the same sales type pitch as in his first.  Sure does look like a "plant" to me.  Not slamming the product or site, but just be honest about it bud.

I have to agree, with the K&N.  I put one in my H3 and it sounds good and runs great.  I felt the power boost right away.  But I am still getting only 15 mpg as an average per tank.  Does anyone have information on this and how to get better milage.

hey all.  There's lots of talk on here about K&N, Air Raid etc. but noone mentions the setup offered by the dealership.  My dealer has a CAI they recommend/sell for ~300 I think - inc install.  I'll see if I can locate some photos and post them up here.  Does anyone else know the system I'm talking about or have it installed?

If so - aware of any advantages/disadvantages?  Does the K&N void any warranties?  I definitely don't want to void my CPO 6yr/100K bumper to bumper coverage!  Thanks!

OK so I answered my own question - they sell an airraid unit for around $340 installed.

I added the K&N FIPK the other day, and can't say I am really impressed.  I didn't notice a whole lot out of it. The throttle response is just a little bit better. Sound isn't that bad, it didn't seem to really get much louder.

I added the same thing on my Hemi Ram, and it made a HUGE, HUGE difference. Can't say the same here.
