well, the meeting was enlightening for the GM rep. He was floored on the type of repeated service my family had experienced, and the 7 trips for the same problem. Believe it or not they still don't have a fix for the TPMS issue. 3 trucks came in for TPMS while I was there negotiating. My car easily qualified for the state lemon law. I only took a notepad and asked for a written commitment on a stenopad for each thing agreed upon. So, the rep wanted to handle the case at the local level (between us men) and leave the legal system at bay.

I am not quite sure, do you have this agreement in writing?  Or is it an understanding between "us men"?  The deal sounds like a good one, and would be a credit to Hummer to follow through on.  I guess that I am dubious given the problems LawWyfe had, although I grant her issue was different and in a different state.  Never hurts to have a written contract!

I was wondering what kinds of issues you could have with TPMS myself...

Mine goes off every day in the cold weather until the tires heat up

The dealership already has the exact Alpha we want and is holding it for us until GM, the Dealership and GMAC can talk/complete paperwork. Since it's the holiday season I have to realistically expect little paperwork being done until the new year. The cost difference betw/ MSRP's already accounts for tax, title, registration. Everything is in writing (this was a hassle) and is worth the effort on my end. I also followed up the afternoon meeting with a evening email to the GM rep outlining his commitment to me and he replied back in sincerity. Now the waiting game...
p.s. the TPMS problem was a issue but what sold the deal for us was that the service dept dropped the ball many, many times on fixing the tire issue and even lied to us about replacing the sensors twice. GM realized this mishap and connected the dots when the service advisor was fired and the Service GM was fired.

Good luck on getting your alpha.....usually things like this end up in the dealer in ending up with all the money

At first the 1.5 months would coincide with a current H3 order from the factory (I know, I just went through it! :) )  but since you just mentioned that they had the exact one on the lot, perhaps it's just an acceptable window to get everything accomplished paperwork wise between all parties involved.

Good luck, and I hope the new Alpha treats you better!

holidays are over and we're still waiting... latest news is that our paperwork is supposed to be filed today (Friday) and then we'll be contacted in the next few weeks by the GM processing center to make sure all agreed upon is correct. Sounds like late January to me... still waiting to hear if anyone on the forum has experienced a substitution for collateral exchange? That's the deal I worked out to make amends with GM and the dealership.

so in the mean time, did they give you a loaner?  or are you still driving your old ride?

Sounds like they are dragging their feet. I would demand some sort of inconvenince reembersment. they sure do get you in and out quick when you sign for the first vehicle so they can get their $$$$$$. but when it cost them youre screwed in a sense.  are you still having to pay the notes while this is going on?

just an update to the GM buyback. We went to visit the dealership today to check on the reserved Alpha we selected. There it was all by its lonesome with a big 'ol sticker that said sold on it. So far, the dealership has kept their word on keeping it isolated and they haven't even driven it (service dept. put a new battery before we drove it around today and adjusted the infamous TPMS). We're still in a paper processing situation due to the GMAC, Hummer and Dealership puzzle. I'm still paying on our current H3 but they'll work something out very "uplifting" for the depreciation on the 2007 trade. The Alpha purrr'd and felt great to drive .... even though we had to bring it back :(
counting the minutes til the swap-out

dang man, if you weren't getting an alpha out of the deal, then id say you were getting kinda screwed.  however, since you're upgrading, then its all good   next time you stop by the dealership, snap a few photos.  i'd love to see it!

as always, good luck!
