hey guys, thanks for the condolences! yes, it pretty much sucks, but at least i have my health. hopefully, the insurance adjuster will see eye-to-eye w/ the service rep...i hate having to fight w/ them. it sounds like i'll be getting a replacement. getting a new one will be nice, though id rather none of this had happened and keep ol' blue...especially since they discontinued the slate blue . i've already cleaned out everything i could w/out a rachet/wrench in hand (spare tire cover, roof racks). going to try to salvage the rock rails, but i'm not sure the driver side is going to be possible. as far as the lights are concerned, the dealer told me they're too hard to uninstall (?)...any truth to this? test drove an alpha yesterday. i really liked it. the engine was a lot quieter and i did notice the better acceleration. not sure if i'll pull the trigger on that one. but, i will get the adventure pkg again . color is my #1 issue at this point... thanks for the memories, mark. brought a tear to my eye . i also appreciate the earth roamer info. i hope we dont have thunderstorms anytime soon in DFW b/c i'll probably be struck by lightning... on my way to buy a lotto ticket , lil d

Glad you are ok..... Volvo's are pretty tough too.... I can't believe that the 3 stood so tough.... but I can only think the wall helped you... all speculation in my opinion. and congrats on your new H3 Alpha....

oh, i totally agree. volvo's are legit, but that dang h3 was a champ. instead of crashing into the cement barrier, the dang thing crawled up it. not surprising when you think about what a hummer can do ... i should be getting word on the replacement status soon from the adjuster. just keep your fingers crossed for me that i get a new one !

my thoughts on the wall was it hit you hard enough that the rear impact could have rolled you and rolled you into a side impact....

Hey dmb7280, Do you have the Onstar roadside assistance and if so, did the airbag deploy and did the 911 airbag deployment call 911 for you? Course I understand you may have been so wrapped up with everything happening so fast. Just curious how the Onstar responed if you have it.

much to my surprise, none of my airbags deployed (side curtains either). i guess they didnt need to considering the angle of the impact, but i have no clue. as far as onstar is concerned, it came on immediately after the accident. the lady was very nice and called 911 for me. i kinda felt bad, though, as im sure i taught her some new vocabulary (davey wasnt happy). i was impressed by it so much, in fact, that i won't go w/ out it from here on out.

If you need any help with wrenches I'm free this weekend and can give you a hand.... and if you want to keep part of her on the road but couldn't deal with seeing those parts on your new vehicle on a daily bassis, I could help there to...... like maybe that slightly scuffed rock rail could find a home with my girl. ......... I'm too darn far away to help w/ the wrenches, but I can UPS some cold beer and Venison sausage to help sustain your nutrients while you're working on your salvage project!!! Anything to help in this time of grieving.

Hey dmb7280, Sorry about the crash but at least you and everyone else is okay. As far as the crash report goes, if its anything like Florida (a cop here for 22 years), the accident report will not have a lot of detail regarding the speed at the time of impact, etc. The report will list the posted speed limit and the approximate speed based on the damage and driver/witness statements. To figure exact speed you have to measure the skid marks, if any, and determine the drag factor of the payment all of which is usually reserved for crashes involving serious injury or a fatality. Assuming that Texas uses simlar language as FL, the driver was probably charged with a non-criminal infraction along the lines of "Follwing Too Close", "Failure To Use Due Care" or "Careless Driving." Again, FL terms and TX may used different language. Hope you are back on the road with a new H3 soon.
