Default Ocala National Forest Daytrip

My wife and I went to Ocala National Forest last week as a birthday present to me. I've been to Florida several times but have never really seen anything beyond the tourist destinations. We covered the trails highlighted in pink, plus went over to see the Fort Gates Ferry. A couple of pics are from another FS road on that side....can't remember the number. As far as trails go, the ones I was on were not really anything technical. Just some nice, easy sightseeing. I confirmed that Florida does not have hills.

Best trail was definitely Longleaf. We also did the north side of Tobacco Patch, however that was tight and ended up with plenty of pinstriping. I'm not at all against a little trail damage, however it seemed kind of pointless on this stretch. I got plenty of scratches but really didn't see anything more interesting than I saw on Longleaf or the FS roads. One thing to note is that you WILL get scratched up no matter where you go here. I would strongly advise against taking a freshly detailed street queen out here.

Here is a link to a YouTube compilation of puddle hopping. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCghVmvDfpc I'll probably get slammed by armchair wheelers on YouTube about how lame the H3 is if that's the best it can do. There honestly wasn't much techincal wheeling to shoot video of on the sections I ran, so that's the best I came up with. It's very important to note that this is federal property, and you don't screw around there. You stay on marked trails, period. All these pics and the video were on marked multi-use trails.

Do you live in Ocala? I lived there for 14 years and I plan on moving back in August. Hit me up if you decide to go back!

Sorry...not even from the South East so I doubt I'll be making a trip back anytime soon.
