I was thinking about getting a pet. I have had dogs, but I'm just not home. I work 14 hour days on a regular basis. Was thinking about a cat.

Nope..A cat won't work either...14 hours is too long to leave them alone on a daily basis, trust me, especially a kitten...The best pet for you Joe under your circumstances, would be a fish...preferably a dead one...
