Default H1 Exhaust

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I'm new to the Hummer family as I just purchased my first Hummer, a 2000 H1 (6.5L Turbo), about a week ago. I am considering replacing my exhaust system with a new one but I'm not sure which type of system I should go with. Are there any systems any of you would recommend/not recommend? I'm also looking to add a power chip, are there any particular types of these I should/should not use? I've heard these are really good ways help improve the overall peformance of the vehicle, including HP and MPG.

I will appreciate all of your thoughts and ideass and I look forward to hearing from you!!

Haven't done a program or exhaust upgrade on any of my trucks. I prefer leaving them stock. Predator Motorsports has a programmer for the H1 and I think a programmer ECM for the H1. I know they have an exhaust through pipe but I am not sure if they have a custom exhaust system are not.

Thanks 3Hummers. Is there any specific reason why you prefer to keep your trucks stock? Is it just a personal preference or are there common issues/problems that occur with adding these items?

My experience has been that the further away from stock these trucks get the more issues people have with them. These trucks were designed to be high torque, low horsepower vehicles. They work well that way. The 6.5 is not a motor that you can get big performance gains from. Higher horsepower = more broken half shafts, tie rods, etc.

Thanks! That was a worry/consideration I had. Now that I have a little more confirmation, I doubt I will add either of the two. My ears just perked up a bit while reading about the upside, but I wasn't sure of the downside. Thanks again.
