Default Vibration after Volant CAI install

Hi guys,

I installed the Volant CAI kit and their Catback exhaust on my '06 H3 earlier in the summer. Everything is great, except I'm getting a vibration now from the intake box. If I recall corrrectly, the Volant box used only two of the three mounting bolts from the factory box.

I can't pinpoint the specific location of the vibration, since the box is a pretty tight fit, but applying some reasonably light pressure stops the vibration. I've checked all the existing bolts/screws for the entire kit and all are still snug.

I'm curious what you guys would recommend for this. The obvious solution is wrapping with some sort of foam. I'm just not sure if there is any specific foam or issue to be concerned with down the road before doing this. I've seen some adhesive backed sound dampening products, such as http://www.mr-gasket.com/pdf/SoundDa...ccessories.pdf , I'm just not sure this is the sort of thing to be looking for.

Thanks for any tips.

Pull the box out and reinstall. Torque the mounting locations evenly. I had no issues after installing mine this way last summer.

I just installed mine, got a sick deal on it with the Airaid TB spacer for free so I threw that on aswell. Problem was the Volant CAI was missing the Hump I believe and the I had to use a stock piece to get the intake to the TB. I didnt have any directions so I kinda just went at it blindly. Does this look like your setup? Can u post a pic of your setup so I can see if I did it right. Thanks. Also, what is with the huge opening at the bottom of the box? seems kinda big since the factory box had like 2-3 small drill holes to drain water, I am guessing. Do you reuse the little air inlet attached on the stock box into the wheel well? I didn't see any way to do this so I figured you don't thanks again.

Volant on my 07....I had a major rattle at low RPM's. I didn't know what was causing it so I mentioned it to the dealer when I took it in. They told me it was the intake. They took it off and the rattle went away. He suggested putting rubber washers under the mounting points. Instead I just laid some of that spongy lining from my tool chest under it. No more rattle from it at any RPM.

Hey JDTDBD, you low on coolant or am I seeing things?

Yeah I have filled it back up once already, I think there is a leak somewhere. I have only had it for a month and a half.

Default Volant CAI

Hey JDTDBD,

Looks like mine, minus the TB. Attached pics of my install. I didn't reuse any of the factory air inlet. Let me know if I can be of any other help.
