Default Service 4WD Light

Hey all I'm new to the forums and to the H3s. I just bought it 2 weeks ago. Today I installed a rearview camera in it and once i reconnected the battery i now have a Service 4WD message on the dash. It was not on before the install. is this something i should be concerned about and what can i do to fix the issue without returning to the dealer?

quickest try is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.. if it doesnt help, you might have an issue...long discussed here, if you do a search

Thanks for the suggestions. I had planned on doing that tonight as well as checking the connections on the center panel above the radio. I did a search but couldn't find anything that seemed to help me.

Check the 4wd buttons, they tend to stick, make sure they are all out.

disconnect/reconnect all the connections on your center console. I had the same problem when I installed my dvd player. Good luck

Seriously, make sure the buttons are all in the same outward position.. If 1 gets stuck, it sends conflicting signals to the computer=Service 4WD.... tap on all of them and make sure they all pop out to the same outward level position. if 1 seems inward, pull it out. Shut vehicle off & restart. No reason to go to the fluid, since you did nothing to the fluid to cause the light, & Battery disconnect has nothing to do with it. GL

Thanks for all the suggestions but the problem was that the connector behind the center panel had popped out. I must not have got it snapped in enough. Problem solved!

Glad you got it corrected. Future reference: tech101 push, listen for "click", if you are unsure, lightly pull on connector, if it stays in, then it is connected, (even though I know, I still give it another push, just to make sure). I also make sure to count the connectors taken apart, and remember that count when reinstalling.
