Default My Possibly torn CV Boot Pics - Any Suggestions?

Good Morning. My pass. side CV boot has grease in one of the cracks. I have cleaned it out before, and it has returned over time (twice actually). The problem is when I rotate the wheel at every angle, I see absolutely no cracks in the boot even when stretching it out every 1/4 turn to check it. Another problem is my dealer is literally 30 miles away and is such a pain to get to. The service dept is only open mon through fri. I'm taking it in on Monday to get the new jack. It is just a pain to get a loaner car and have to come all the way back there in a day or two to pick it up. The only good thing they open at 5:30 AM. Let me know what you guys think about these pics:

Mine is the shop for the same boot. I just found out that the book makes the dealer order the inner boot as well as the outer boot, so when you take it in, make sure your parts manager knows that so you aren't waiting an extra few days like I am. Mine is leaking from the clamp. The good thing is they hold a decent amount of grease, so you don't have to worry about it going dry in the mean time.

Maybe a glob of road grease or something left over from initital manufacturing time..Clean it off real good and monitor it for a couple of weeks..if the grease comes back then you have a problem and some documentaion to back up your claim..

BTW..If it is thick like chassis lube or bearing grease..it can't be from the boot..as that stuff in the front diff, even though it's 85w90 gear oil..ain't thick like grease.

The grease I found on mine was actually sitting on top of the ball joint. My first thought was the mechanic didn't clean up after servicing the ball joints, but then I looked closer and saw no gease fitting. The color was king of a graphite black/grey. I didn't dare touch it because I know how hard that stuff can be to get off of your skin and everything else you touch.

Well, I'm actually here at the dealer right now. I'm getting the jack replaced and they are looking at the CV Boot. I did check the ball joint, and it seems to be fine. They said they haven't seen any H3's with a bad CV boot, BUT they said it only takes a small pinhole to make the grease accumulate on it. I thought the grease was too thick to get through a pinhole, but I could be wrong. I also told them the inner and outer boot come in a kit, so if they didn't have it in stock, they would have to give me a 06/07 H3x loaner The guy laughed, and then I cried from dissappointment. I am so greatful my dealer is actually proactive.

It's been fixed. I'm posting a separate message about it for everybody to read.
