Hi locked and low Locked
I have been through the country and the trails deep in the woods with plenty of mud. I still have yet to need to switch out of Hi-unlocked. Should i sometimes put it in locked just to keep it loosened up?

There's a little electric motor that clunks it into four low. It never hurts to exercise that thing from time to time just to keep it limbered up. There's few things worse for machinery than to not use it and let it sit up and seize up.

You probably won't use 4L for mud anyway since you need the wheels moving quickly. Of course, I'm a desert dweller and mud puddles last about as long as free beer - it's all dried up quickly. I use 4L for better control and lower gearing when climbing over rocks etc. The gearing helps to go slow where speed would kill the truck.
Check out my video as most of this is in 4L. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Nnqg1B8LA. (yes, shameless plug for this video especially since it's in Sights and Sounds)

I'm in Socal and can barely remember mud. What is it like? We are actually getting rain now but I leave for Texas before the weekend so I'm going to miss it. Out here it's been mainly rock, sand and dirt. I use 4 low for climbing rocks, steep grades and descending steep grades.
