I moved my 9500 ti to the rear and replaced it with a Warn Powerplant with compressor on my Alpha. I have a steelcraft winch mount/brush guard that the winch fit. It was in front of the lower grill too tall to go under the upper grill. However after modding all that and removing alot of plastic that blocked air flow I realized there would be room for a winch to go partially under the upper grill.

If using the Steelcraft there is a lip that would need to be cut down.
I found I had room to stuff a 2.5 gallon air tank in there also.
I made templates as I was trying to mock up a mount for others wanting to recess the winch.

There is room for a low profile winch back in there which would reduce approach overhang though I have never stuffed it in the ground yet.
But got close.

I'm going to try the steel hawze with cable rather than the old rollers and see how it does.

You could fab a plate, maybe like Solidjj did, or retain the bumper and place a plate on top extending deeper.
I'm still in the process of having light pods made on each end that look somewhat like before with an added light.

Solidjj did you have to modify the impact bar at all? it looks like you may have cut the top of it of in order to weld in the flat plate that the winch is mounted on.

Also what were the measurements of your flat plate going from one frame member to the other. like how long and wide was it?

The impact bar is still the same and I want to say across the frame was 26 1/2 inches?

Thanks for those pics. It's a lot of help. I can't wait to get the time to tear it all apart and get it all together.

Do you by chance have measurements and how much of the impact bar did you have to cut?

Would appreciate it if you stopped digging up OLD threads like this one. Four years old +. Us a PM to ask questions like this, skip the post.
