Default Transmission slipping above 5k rpm...?

Hey guys. I first noticed this a couple months ago. When I floor my H2, it pulls fine in 2nd gear up until about 5k rpm, then the engine just revs up to 7k.

The other night this happened again. I waited another 30 seconds and tried to replicate it, but this time it pulled all the way to 7000 rpm without slipping.

What do you think the issue is? Last known tranny service was at 80k miles and it has 130k miles now. I don't notice any other slipping while driving around. Typically, I drive like an old man and baby my way around town. Let me know, thanks.

Thinking it could be the electronic sensor adjusting itself and that why it did not replicate until 7000rpm definetly check fluid level

Update:

I started the h2 and immediately started driving to 30 mph. I noticed in 2nd gear I could tap the gas at 2000-2500rpm and the h2 would rev (slipping) in 2nd. After coming to a stop, I couldn't replicate it. It shifted fine thereafter and wouldn't slip.

Do you really think it would be a fluid issue? (I hope so!)

It would be nice if it was just a sensor or low fluid. 1member on this forum was 3 quarts low I believe I read thats all it took to rid his problem. hopefully that is your situation.

Got out of class and drove over to a friends house down the street. By the time I arrived, the motor was already at operating temp (tranny was still cool). We pulled the tranny dipstick and fluid was on the cool but not the warm.

My friend told me to drive home and check it again. I drove 15 minutes home, and was kind of heavy on the pedal hoping to warm it up real good. Right before I made it home, I floored it a couple more times, and pulled into my driveway. The tranny temp gauge read about 110 degrees (never goes above 120-125, I feel like its very inaccurate).

I checked my fluid (with the H2 still running) and it was still on the cold setting. I checked 3x and all had the same results (other than the 1st time, with fluid on the warm setting. Im assume driving around sloshes the fluid around. But after cleaning the dipstick and reinserting it two more times showed it still on 'cool') Below is a picture... Is this a pretty clear indication its low on fluid? The dipstick is dry in the area I marked as 'Nothing'.

it should of been a higher level; id put in half a quart right off the bat then after it's warmed up add a little at a time. until you reach the correct markings on dip stick.
Keep it parked and idle no need to stomp on it especially if low on fluid. should be warm by 20 minutes not sure what temp is where you live but 15-20 min should do it. keep your fingers crossed

Tonight was 40 degrees. I will grab some fluid from GMC tomorrow and do what you said.

Keep driving it at 7000 RPM and you can buy a trans and a motor.

If you're low on fluid get it topped off immediately and for god's sake quit beating on it until you do. If this has been happening for a "couple of months" as you state in your original post and you have been driving it hard while low on fluid..... you can probably budget for a new trans/rebuild in your very near future.

Also.... I'm not sure how you know your engine is spinning to 7K when the max reading on the tach is 6K???
