Default Temp Actuator Problem

Okay. Had my truck to a dealership to diagnose the problem with the air conditioning and heating. Prob is, when I turn on the air, heat blows from only the driver's side vents. SOMETIMES... Othertimes, when I turn on the heat ( hey, I live in Michigan...happens in the same day!) cool air (outside temp?) blows in, again, only on the driver's side. So it took the dealership 20 min to find the prob. Apparently, the gears for the temp actuator are stripped and they wanted $584 to fix it. I told them I'd have to wait and left. Anyone have this prob? I spoke with my local machanic and he said he thought he could fix it but he's never done it before. No more warrenty left on the truck and my local mechanic has ordered the part. Any hints to help him out?

Your dealer isn't that far off,the part its self is around $208.00,I can send you a break down
of the heater assy PM me a fax number,as far as the extra $300 plus dollars unless they did
this before it will take around 2.5 to 3.5 hours to do.(I can't copy and paste diagrams with my currant software sorry)

Default Heat/air issues

Hey Parts Guy, can you please help? I have an 04 H2, temp control acting up. Full heat on Driver side, cold AC on Passenger side, Temp set to 60 both sides. Used to play with the control, turning up and then back down, and it reset. No longer. Pulled fuse and reset, now the air only blows from defrost vents. Hot one side cold other still. Very mechanical, so just need parts and location instructions. Fax number is 512-263-9924. Your help is greatly appreciated! W2F
