Default New to the Family of H2

I just got my dream truck a 2008 H2 Black on Black. I wanted to find out if there was anything I need to be caught up on since you guys would know more about the truck than me. Some questions that I have are how many miles can you put on one of these trucks and how much can i tow.

Thanks MIKE

Read some of the older posts and you will find some good topics/info.... I have already fixed a mirror issue I was having because some great folks here on the board stepped up and helped.... that's what it's all about !!

You will likely have to look for a steering wheel control harness. Check with a professional installer like car toys or something they should be able to tell you what you need.

Welcome, I have a 07 H2. I would think the 08 should be trouble free. With the towing look in your owners manual.

funny thing is I drove it once baught it and went on vacation to florida so the dealership delivered it to my house 2 weeks there alone without me. I cant wait till vacation is over. but 2 weeks after i get back I go to afghanistan poor thing will be sitting at my friends house for 8 months without me. I am tempted to put custome wheels on it. Is that a good idea or should i stick with the current ones.

Hi quicksilverz1, welcome to the forum. Taller tires and wider wheels are harder on front end parts and also braking is not as effecient with heavier wheels and ties, so it up to you about different wheels and tires. I have taller and bigger wheels on my 2008 I can also repair my own truck so it doesn't matter to me about wearing stuff out alittle faster and braking is alittle different but i am used to it.

Your 08 should be pretty trouble free for a while. You should easly be able to get over 200K miles out of your H2. I have 114K on my 03. As long as you maintain the truck (change fluids and chassis parts) it should run for a VERY long time. The 08 has a much better trans than the previous years as well.

You can run 12.5x37" tires on factory rims with no trouble at all. You realy do not need new aftermarket wheels. In fact if you are wanting bigger tires and to set the truck up for offroad the factory wheels are really the way to go. There are many more tires available in a 37x12.5x17 than say a 37x12.5x18 or 20 etc.... And the tires for a 17 wheel are much more inexpensive. If you want to go to a wider tire like a 13.5 you will need to at least level the truck with new torsion keys and shocks.

On my 03 I have 37x13.5x18 Toyo Open country M/T's. They are mounted on Mazzi Chrome wheels. I can tell you I wish i had factory wheels as I do a TON of hardcore offroad and its tearing my nice wheels up. My truck is lifted 2" in the front and 3" in the rear.

I hope this helps.
