HUMMER H2 37" Tire Pros and Cons
#11
I got them from www.rallequip.com - (Goodyear MT/R 37X12.50R16.5 Tires + H1 24-Bolt Hummer Wheel 80-95%). Great guys to deal with and free shipping as well. The only thing I had to do when I got them was clean them up well and give a fresh coat of satin black paint as you need to remember these are Military DRMO surplus that have been sitting on pallets for awhile. The tire condition on mine was excellent with no issues.
The only word of caution I have is the following:
- Mileage: I get 10.4 now as opposed to 11.1 prior, so not too bad
- Weight: These wheels with run flat inserts and tires weigh 162 lbs as each. This will put a bit more strain on your drive line, hubs, control arms etc.
- Maintenance: Once every 2 weeks check tire pressure to make sure the 2 piece wheels are not leaking air from the 24 bolts around the perimeter.
- Usage: These are hard compound Kevlar lined tires that do great in large amounts of standing water etc. but will act up a bit more than normal street tires in extreme cold. Very durable, but you have to take a bit more care when on the highway as stopping distances increase by about 5% under threshold braking.
Lastly, you will need 2 or 2.5" spacers as the Humvee wheels do not have any backspacing and the H2's require it to clear the brakes etc. Don't go cheap on these (spacers that bolt to the hub which have lugs pressed into them to bolt the wheel onto) as they are critical in keeping everything together. Use locktite!
If you are considering going this route here are the costs involved:
- Wheel/Tire package: $1,100
- Spacers (billet aluminum w/pressed lugs): $350
- Disassembly & resealing w/ balancing (just to be safe):$400 ($100/wheel at an industrial/semi truck shop)

That's an awesome website. Come summer time I'm going to keep this in mind. My rim and tire set up is pretty heavy. Not sure if the quite 165 ea but I struggle a little to lift them (this coming from a bodybuilder here). I would expect to clean them up but no issue with that. The price is great especially at 80-95% tread life and well worth it. I'm going to price out the 37" toyo m/t's as well

Haha the gas prices here in MA are $1.98 as well. This is great. I see in the photo posted that stock wheels are used with that set up. Will the 37"s work with my -24 offset with the leveling kit? My wheel and tires stick out a couple inches past the fender flares. I want to use 13.5 width but I'm sure I'm going to have to use 12.5 width?

I have a 3 inch body lift on my h2, and I had 37s for about a year. 3 in body lift is plenty for 37s. I wheeled the hell out of it too.
I actually have some 37s for sale cuz I just jumped up to 40s! Stock gearing, stock rims, 3 in body lift.
and I still beat it up offroad.
