Default H2 Doesn't warm up completly

Ok it's getting a bit cold here in Poland about 2 degrees Celsius (about 35F) and I noticed that even during a long run my H2 doesn't heat up to more than 70 degrees (about 158 F ). I used a scan tool to connect during a trip and I checked the info directly from the computer to make sure the gauge is not messed up. I also noticed my fan working ALL the time even during a cold start. I'm not sure it should behave that way, I owned a BMW before and the fan only kicked in when the engine was at the perfect temperature. I also thought about changing the thermostat but I wanted to get an opinion from you guys.

The mechanical fan should be disengaging shortly after startup. If my garage was warm the fan clutch will be engaged but by the time I pull out of the driveway and to the end of the street the clutch has disengaged.

You fan clutch may be bad if the fan is turning 100% of the time. Although I am pretty sure when fan clutches go bad they fail in the disengaged position so the fan wouldn't turn at all.

Thanks for the reply! Oh well guess I'll have to visit the mechanic for a closer inspection. I'll update this post after they come up with something.

Cheers!

I would remove the thermostat and look to see if it is stuck open. You can test it by putting in hot water and see what temp it opens. I would probably just stick a new thermostat in if it were mine.

You are talking about the water temp, right? My tranny temp takes a looooong time to warm up since I moved to the mountains, but the coolant warms right up.

Side note: looking to switch to electric fans as soon as the holidays are over.

Yeah it's the water temp I have problem with. However since the fan is running all the time the tranny temp barely warms up at all.

Replaced the thermo about a week ago and all seems fine now. Case closed thanks for all the feedback.
