Have you tried contacting the dealer? Most dealers, if not all, will give you a carfax (upon request) if they think you are a serious buyer. Just my .02

There is no free carfax or carfax coupon available anywhere. I have been trying to look for it myself for ages. There are a lot of alternatives online though, i havent tried the $1.00/report one since its too good to be true and i doubt it.
I have used one website though and been using a 50% off coupon. Here VinAudit.com - Carfax Report Alternative. NMVTIS Vehicle History. Instant VIN Check.
