ck eng light on . How to find code?
#2
you have a few options.... you can go to an autoparts store and most will give you the code.... you can buy a cheap scanner that will give you the code, but not the nomenclature, and then we can look it up....
or you can buy a good scanner that gives you everything....
you could buy a programmer that will scan it also....
What's your budget?
On an 03, I have a couple thoughts.... things like Gas cap, knock sensor, evap....

Ok so they plug it in and get the code?.....budget, I always believe in tool investment, how much are scanners?......also my speedomter dash light is out, is there a bulb to replace behind it?...also....are there any Chilton service books out there all I saw were expensive service books...Thanks

The service books are the only thing that I know of... but they are far better than any chilton.
Scanners are anywhere from $30 to thousands. Both of mine are internet updateable... so they cost more.... a good one is under $100. I like actron best... something like this one would serve you well... http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP9550-.../dp/B003IOITIK
I'd have to look in the book about the dash, but I don't thinkt hey are replaceable like the old school dashes with the 194 bulbs.... but don't quote me on that. I know they can be replaced, but I think it requires the cluster removal, and soldering.

Ok thanks for all the help...I removed the dash , did get it apart and yes the about 10 or so lilltle bulbs are sodered in, In not an expert at soldering, but have done alittle, but fearing I may do more damage than good, found a local radio shop here that does alot of these GM clusters, they replaced all the bulbs for $75...the step guage motors were all old original, with #s xc5 168,they all worked well so I left them alone, and needed it back taht day. I hope they dont fail next week..new repl. upgrade?.motors would have been marked x25-168?.....Should I have had all the guage step motors replaced?
