If your keeping the truck long term then get an Optima. There really good and work real well when you run alot of stuff. Very good in extreme weather too.

Another good one is the AC Delco battery that comes with it. Thats what I run for now.

Be sure to leave the key out of the ignition while changing it.
I think I left it in the ignition when I changed mine and my instrumentation cluster got fried. That battery change cost me 800 dollars!

The dealer said I must of left the key in the ignition. That keeps the computer booted up. I still dont know exactly what happened to this day but that was the dealers best guess.

I will really sweat when its time to put one in!

THANKS for the info. It was between a AC Delco and a Interstate. Went with the Interstate, turck seems to be back to normal. Old battery was so dead it wasnt holding any charge. It was a crappy Auto Zone type battery, real junk. The swap went fine, no instrument issues.
Thanks for the advice, this place is a great piece of mind for me!!

Did you have the key out when you changed it?

I am just wondering b/c I am gun shy on changing my battery now.

Did you just normally change the battery?

Yes, the key was out of the ignition. I took it to my mechanic, he did a voltage check then just took the battery out, put the new one in. Simple and easy. Is there another way that it should have been done?
