Default aFe filter vs. OEM Donaldson filters

So I bought the aFe Pro Dry S Filter thinking that the stock filter just wasn't that good. But as I'm finding out, the OEM Donaldson filter and intake is a really good filter and setup, designed for heavy duty dusty environments. They've been making filters for over 100 years, they seem to know a thing or two about filtration.

I'm wondering if I should just stick with the OEM Donaldson filter. Check out their PowerCore brand that's used in the Hummer H2, here's a
on their technology. Their oil filters seem great as well. Here's a
on them.

Thoughts??

I have always ran the power core in mine but I hate the fact they are made in China.

I'm not expert but I would think the intake tube diameter and MAF would be the limiting air flow factor in the H2, not this filter.

Well, after about a week with the aFe, I'm going to return it and just stick with Donaldson. The aFe filter just doesn't have a good fit. It doesn't create a tight seal inside the airbox, it's lose and quite disappointing.

AM General wasn't messing around. Donaldson makes serious filters and based off my research, I'm just going to stick with them for now. Their filters are excellent, tight seal, and long life.

Sounds like you got unlucky. I've been running my aFE for about a year and no probs so far (touch wood!).
