6 liter H2 with Magna charger Supercharger motor question
I posted this on the SUT forum too, but it seems more people look here and the 6 liter goes in both. Sorry if you saw it there.
I have a 2005 H2 SUT that is supercharged with a Magna supercharger. Now, I don't know that much about superchargers, but I know what they do ultimately. I have had an issue with the 6 liter engine making a noisy lifter rattling sound. So, I took it to a local mechanic recommended by the guy I bought the truck from. The mechanic told me the original owner had the wrong motor oil put in the H2. He said it needed synthetic motor oil since it had a supercharger, so he changed out the motor oil. It still does the same thing. I called magnacharger and sure enough, the super charger uses synthetic oil and it holds about 6-8 ounces and is good for 99,000 miles. Magnacharger could care less what kind of motor oil you run in the truck. So, has anyone had this lifter rattle? What kind of motor oil (brand and viscosity) do you use. I live in a far north state (cold). Any other ideas orsuggestions

Just and FYI. I have 110,000 miles on mine how and have had the magna on it forever and a day. I've always run normal oil as that was in it when I bought it. The blower has oil in it but it is not serviceable. the drain plug is welded in on the m112. I was getting some rattle also but it was the bearings inside the blower itself ( my fault..sucked in dust in a dry lake bed when airbox hose broke). I removed it, sent it to magnuson in ventura,ca. and had it rebuilt. $450 no problem.

You don't need synthetic oil in your motor. I tow and get all crazy drag racing prius' in the city. just change oil every 3000 and keep an eye under car make sure there aren't any leaks. I don't get any lifter noise though.
