I have not certainly purchased a H2 thinking about the fuel consumptions, but after having monitorated three full on my H2 6.2, this is the in relief consumption in the city, with an average of 3,8 Km / L on the mixture. I knew that the MY 2008, with the engine 6.2, could easily make the 5 Km / L. (11.76 MPG), and that's why, having always been very apprehensive with my cars, I would not want that this inusual average fuel consumption was the signal of some problems or of a not optimization of the motor, having purchased the same car already used with 34.000Km.
What do you think about it?

I recently posted a road trip on the other Hummer forum. Since it is my post, I will repost it here. But your mileage for a 2008 sounds like you could be doing better, or you love to hotrod your H2.

Here is my road trip:

With the occasional question about, "what kind of mileage do you get in your H2," I thought an actual road trip report might be of interest to a few. I filled the tank up Friday morning, reset the fuel economy gauge and drove from Vegas to Salt Lake City. The wind was calm all day but the outside temperature soon reached 109. Upon arrival in Salt Lake City the gauge registered 14.8 mpg. You can describe most of the trip as a slight uphill climb. The highest peak is 6600 feet. Speed most of the way was held at 65 mph due to the extreme heat.

Sunday morning I returned to Vegas. I did not reset the the fuel economy gauge. Early on I caught a dead-on head-wind blowing 15-20 mph with strong gusts. (Why does the wind always blow hard in the wrong direction?) The temperature reached 116. Again, because of the heat speed was held at 65. During the initial part of the trip the gauge quickly crept up to 15.3 mpg so things were looking promising, but the strong winds quickly knocked that figure back down to 15.1. The final average both ways at the end of the trip was 15.0 mpg upon reaching home in Vegas. If the wind had not blown so hard and the fact the return trip is downhill I think the average mpg would have been in the high 15's. With cooler temps and no wind 16+ mpg is reasonable. But that's life.

 

I wasn't really worried about my fuel consumption until now, I have an '03 and barely beak the 11mpg mark should I have that looked at or is just the older model wasn't' as efficient? For the record I drive slow and to me the break is my enemy so I use is sparingly planning my stops well in advance.

 

You guys drive 6-7 thousand pound trucks that have the aerodynamics of a garbage truck with tradionally gas-guzzling GM v8's. Do the math.

 

Some ideas about this inusual fuel consumption...?

Thats normal. You didn't buy a Toyota Yaris you bought a HUMMER

 

No idea here, I know some thing I'm gonna check tonight when I get home are tire inflation, and air filter. I've read over the past few hours another potential cause is the fuel filter which apparently underwent many changes in the various hummer year models and for my 03 I need a special tool to check it out, joy. So i may have to have a pro look it over.

 

Seattle to Wenatchee and back, over Stevens pass with 4 seats full and 65-70mph 15.25 actual.

This is a site of enthusiastes Hummer owners, NOT of pessimistes owners of others car brands, ok?

 

I drive 75 mph on the highway all the time and the best I can do is 12mpg. Strong KS headwinds can knock it down to 9-10 mpg. My average runs about 11 mpg. I have had a an 03 H2 and now an 06 H2 and they both were the same.
