1997 H1 XLC2 Questions
Hey guys,
I am going through my trail rig replacing parts and fixing issues that bug me. It is a 1997 Civilian H1 XLC2. I have a few questions about the rear seat compartment covers. As you can see from the photos, my rear half door blanks do not open and I have the standard aluminum covers in the bed. Were these bed covers watertight from the factory or ever meant to be watertight? Mine have no seal on them, just metal on metal and leak like a sieve. To the point where they are totally useless. And being in extreme South Georgia, it rains most days. They do have drain holes which work sometimes but seem to mostly stay clogged up. I am thinking about attempting a seal to see if I can get it waterproof. Anyone attempted this?
Also has anyone found a good use for these compartments? I even considered moving the batteries there but would not unless I could get it watertight.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
Jesse

Most 2 door hmmwv's had the two rear seats and the seat backs/ cover panel and nothing on a hmmwv is sealed from water. I dont exactly remember how the cililian XLC2 trucks are. Post some more pics. You could seal the area ( permanently or with a removable cover) , there is probably holes in the floor and you would have to make a custom cover if you want it removable. Or you can just leave it as is. Just fill with ice and cold beverages
