$149.99 for an oil change in the SRT-10 I use to have ... never paid more than $39.99 for the H2 and they always wash it and keep the little chrome I have looking good. Dodge charged me damn near 4 times that and wouldn't even fill the windshield wiper fluid up as a part of it ...

My dealer charges that for synthetic oil
and 29.95 for the standard oil

nope, standard oil. Guy told me that it's an hour job and there labor rate is $99.99 an hour so the price they are charging me is actually a bargain...unreal! I'm just pissed at myself for forgetting to ask how much before they did it. Kinda hard to ask questions when your by yourself holding on to a screaming 2 year old.

Since an oil change is standard maintenance, and has a standard repair time, I'd ask to see in the book how much time GM says it should take to change the oil. If the book says 20 minutes, he can only charge you 20 minutes, even if it takse his slow ass mechanic an hour to do it. That is what book times are for.

To be honest, the only time I ever drop a C note or more for an oil change is when my 12.7 Liter Series 60 Detroit powered Freightliner goes in, and then I get two one gallon oil filters, a one gallon fuel filter, a coolant filter and acid check, and about 12 gallons of oil. Yes, I said gallons. All of this for about $135, and it only takes 45 minutes. They top off the bug juice for free.

Seriously, my recommendation for you is to find another dealer, or go there for warranty repairs only. Your dealer sucks more than a Hoover.

I went in to Gold Coast when I was looking to buy and nobody there would even talk to me. I ended up getting my H3 at Perrine Hummer in Hightstown. Stay away from Greenbrook Pontiac/ Hummer also...they tried to bait/switch and mark up a bunch of accessories. ( Where are you importkiller? I'm in Freehold.)

wait I just got back from dealer a few hours ago, let me get the price breakdown.........
importkiller
11/18/2006 2:39:43 PM
ok, here is the breakdown from the dealer papers:

change oil,filter check all fluid levels and tire pressure = $35.00
6 quarts of oil at $1.85 per = $11.10
1 quart of lube at $1.55 per = $1.55
1 oil filter = $6.50
Solvent = $1.25
Tax = $3.88

TOTAL $59.28

What, oh what, did they use a whole quart of lube on? I doubt there is a whole quart of lube in all of the serviceable parts on the vehicle. I hope they gave you the left overs, since you paid for it. Also, solvent should fall under shop supplies, which should fall under the hourly rate of performing work. In other words, rags, solvent, and other misc. one time use supplies used by the mechanic to perform the job should be figured into the hourly rate, which looks like the part where they charged you for labor to actually change the oil, check the fluids and tire pressure. I wonder what the price would be if you just asked them to change the oil, and nothing else.
If I were you, I would chalk it up as a learning experience and not go back to that STEALership unless you absolutely have to.

LMAO...I thought the same thing about the quart of lube when I saw it...don't know what they lubed but it better be lubed enough for a few years I agree with the rest you say as well, I will definately chalk it up and never go back there...unless it's gonna be a long repair...the other hummer dealer near me doesn't give caddie's as laoners
