I had been looking at getting a Hummer for a couple of years. The introduction of the H3 made up my mind. My reasons: 1) I like the feeling of being safe in it-especially during winters here in Michigan. While I respect ice, I don't have that "white knuckle" feeling I used to have when driving in snow. 2) I love the look of the vehicle 3) The off roading capability.
Speed is not an issue for me. If I feel "the need for speed", I hop in the wife's CTS and can rocket down the highways.....................

Solarflare my wife drives the H3 and she does get more attention at the stables, gas station, grocery store, etc driving the H3 than she does in the F250 4x4. I think the Hummer does have some man attracting powers.

I bought an H3 because I always settled for a Jeep of some sort, and seemed to have alot of problems with them. No matter what, the Wrangler, the Grand Cherokee, Liberty, you name it I owned one or 2 of them. When I bought my 05 Wrangler (my third one) and the trans was acting horrible with only 3000 miles I dumped it, traded it in for the one vehicle I always wanted but never bought and that was a Hummer. So now I own it, along with a Prius and you can imagine the looks my home gets when people pass walking their dogs. It is the perfect combination for me.
I love the H3 -not just the problem of the cylinder head I am now dealing with. Which led me to this forum. I liked that it is not really that much bigger than the Jeeps, and it rides so much nicer, and just is a hot vehicle. Lots of people want them, but they don't get them. But I did.

Seadoo, I have had all types of 4x4 vehicles. Liked almost all of them but you are right, the Hummer is different. I really enjoy driving my Hummers and while I liked my other 4x4s I did not feel the same way about driving them that I do the Hummer.

Hi 3hummers,
I got so mad today dealing with GM, I decided to trade in the 2006 and bought a 2008 tonight. I don't want a lemon, and cannot be worrying that everytime I drive it that engine light will go on so I just gave it back, and will now lease one. Even if I lose money since I owned it, I feel better about doing this, as I use it for trips and as my second vehicle. I love the Hummer, and I actually got my car payment down, gave up some stuff, like the roof lights, and GPS, but got the 2008 with the better warranty. And it will be new.

I will be picking it up today. I think I did ok, I get the better warranty and I traded the slate bluegrey color and got black. I think once something big blows up, I just don't feel good about the 06. Do you think I did the right thing? You probably have more experience in this stuff. thanks for the replies

I myself am not fond of leasing but can understand your reasons. As far as being new, better warranty, etc... good choice I think.

First time in my life I ever leased a car, but thought this way, in a couple years I can get out of it. We'll see. I just drove it home, it is fine. Dealers do make me ill though.
Sad they do not do all they say will when you sign on the line.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them. My dealer did everything they said they would and they always go out of their way to make us happy.

That does suck, I got mine used from Chevy and I actually enjoyed the experience. Granted I knew I was going home in a Hummer but I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off.

Me? I looked at a lot of 4X4's and looked at the OLD information Consumer Reports had to offer. most SUV's look like a soccer mom - minivan on stilts. Sure JD Power and Assoc. says 70% of car buying decisions in the middle class house are made by women.
Well, forget that. I just sold my Harley Davidson and I was going to buy something like it.....with a couple of extra wheels and as must fun! I'm heading to Vermont.
2008 H3.
Done.

seadoo you have to feel good about what you drive and if the new Hummer with the warranty is what makes you feel comfortable then that is the right way to go. I haven't ever leased but I have friends that love the 24 months and drop it of aspect of the lease. Enjoy the new Hummer.

Im a Construction worker... Operate heavy equipment like big dozers, track hoes and such. Everyone drives the big pick ups.. the f250's and such... I had no desire to fit into the crowd, the click... I never did! I wanted something that said you made it... your there... And Hummer says it! "Like Nothing Else" I park it kinda of away from them.. ya know kind of stands alone...
Funny thing is they all blab at lunch about there super duties but never a word spoken of the hummer.. sitting off in the distance kinda growling....

Just finished reading everyone's answers and on each I was thinking "yup...me too sort of"
BUT...why did I HAVE to have not just one but two?
I have no freaking idea...it is like an addiction, one day I saw one and had to have it. We swore we would NEVER go four wheeling in such a nice and expensive vehicle....we were not the "four wheeling" kind....more the BMW kind....hate dirt and love luxury. But then the strangest thing happened....the H3 wanted to go play in the mud and it took us with it....and we LOVED it!
Of course.....as always happens....one of anything is rarely enough and if it is great...but could be greater...one MUST have it.....so now an H3 sits here for me to drive around in....and an H2 sits in the driveway for hubby so he will leave my H3 alone. We were going to trade the H3 for the H2 but with the price of gas....it seemed cheaper to keep the H3 for everyday driving....no one here wants to drive our "slider"...an 06 Toyota Avalon Ltd.
Why did we buy them? Damn...I think they put a spell on us, its an addiction.....seeing the very first one was like a heroin **** first taste.....it is the only explaination I can think of.
I would sell me hot tub and my house before I would go without a Hummer.....I am sick!

isn't that the reason we all buy a hummer , some people out here think that driving a yellow hummer that I shouldn't be driving up the tracks (only after someone else has) and that you are a w*nker for doing just that.
flrtrader you are not alone brother

The distinctive look and safety is what made me decide to buy a Hummer. I've noticed that everytime I get out of my H3, men look and compliment me with what I drive.

I wanted an Hummer ever since I went through HMV training in the military. They took us to an offroad track and said "try to flip it." I came home with a grin from ear to ear that night. I got to drive the military version around a lot, and when they came out with the H2 it was my dream truck. Love the Urban Assault Vehicle.
