My wife wants to trade in her 2006 H3 for the new Alpha V8.  But the dealer says the adventure package is not available with the Alpha.  I've researched it and can't really tell one way or the other... soooo...

Has anyone actually seen (or have in their possesion) an H3 Alpha equipped from the factory with the larger 285 tires?

I looked at an Alpha just yesterday, but I also looked at about 10 other H3's and now can't remember, I'll be back at the dealer tomorrow morning and will check for you and ask the sales people....

The mini brochure on the Hummer website does not show that as a possibility.

I have an Alpha with the "Off Road Package" which is the re-named Adventure Package that I had on my '07. Mine came with the 285/75-16 Bridgestone Dueler AT tires - I have not seen any other Alphas so can't comment on other oem tires.

CCMDoc: is the "off-road" package just a trim thing? From what I have read, you do not have the lower gear ratio on the transfer case. What about the locking differential in the rear? Yeah, I know you probably don't need the extreme crawl rate with the V8, but it is handy when climbing rocks.

Hey cbetts,

Nope - same as Adventure Pkg - rear diff locker, lower ratio transfer case etc. I'll grab the window sticker later and post what it says under "Off Road Package".

from what i remember when researching the '07's prior to my purchase, the only difference between the "off road pkg" and "adventure pkg" was the adv pkg included the chrome wheels.

Off-road package is definitely an option on the Alpha.  The ultimate crawl ratio is not quite as low as on the non-Alpha's since the axle ratio isn't as low on the Alpha (4.10 vs. 4.56, I believe), but otherwise it's the same.

As for Off-road package vs. Adventure Package, when you get an H3 with the "Luxury Package" (i.e. leather seats, etc.) you cannot also get the "Adventure Package."  Instead, you get the "off-road suspension package," as an additional option which includes everything in the Adventure Package but just has a different name.  It's just because of GM's naming scheme.  They have base, Adventure, Luxury, H3X, and now Alpha (X & Alpha come standard with Lux included).

Yup.  I saw HummerMike's H3 Alpha with the Adventure Package in person at his dealer last night.  They do offer it.

Thanks for the replies.  It appears that the salesperson was pretty clueless but now we're on the right track to get an Alpha with the off road package.

Hmmmmm.....  I'm starting to get excited about this.  Maybe we'll get a pair of 'em and I'll trick mine out, lol.
