yeeaaaahhhh, so I tried to apply this frost coating to one of my rear windows last night as a test. it didn't turn out all that well :-/ so, I'm assuming I can just use a razor blade to scrape this paint stuff off the windows? maybe? hopefully ? is there a better way to do it, maybe some industrial strength paint remover from home depot or something? suggestions are very welcome :-/ thanks (only me right Mark) ;)

Is it the stuff that coats the glass or is it the stuff that etches it?

its just a clear coat kinda thing. no etching.

Whew !  You are lucky....

Not to sound stupid or obvious, but what does the manufacturer of the product say about removal?

Well, It said something about being able to remove it with some chemical (maybe turpentine/paint thinner) for up to 8 hours after the initial spray.  After that, I'm not sure because I didn't read the entire thing since I wasn't planning on removing it anyway.   It's the same metallic stuff I put on my rear tire cover.  It's just metal flake stuff mixed with a clear coat.  It dried overnight so I didn't even think about taking it off until I saw it in daylight.  It looks OK but I don't like the look as much as I thought I would and would rather just use some high-gloss wax on the windows.  I'm pretty sure a razor blade will take the stuff of, just like most anything stuck to a window, I hope.  If not, I can always re-coat it until it's even.  Windows are generally easy to get things off of with a blade I have found, but I never tried anything like this before.

Don't ya mean, I'll like to to?

Thanks.  Do they sell this kinda stuff at Home Depots/Ace or is it more of an automotive spray?

Here is a link to the stuff:

It doesn't say anything about paint, but I'll still look for it.  I have the aerosol GooGone which I use and that stuff is great, but I would trust 3M a little more.  That's what I used to take those damn warning labels off the visors that nobody believes can be done

Well, I went and bought myself a scraper blade this morning since mine went lost long ago.  That should help.

Well, I was able to scrape it all off with a razor blade.  It took all of ten minutes.  I washed the goop off, cleaned it, put some wax on it, and it's as good as new.  So much for that little idea   I don't think I ever realized just how dark my windows are tinted.  I wonder if they have different levels of tint depending upon what region they are sold.  I cleaned all the windows last night when I got home and even in the sun, they are REALLY dark, so no need to tint them any darker.  I guess I just never really paid much attention to it.

Again Dennis, nothing but an empty post on this end.  I wonder if anybody else can see your new smileys, or if the link is not set up right.

Let's see if anybody else can see them.  It could be my firewall or they just don't work with Internet Explorer.  I remember you telling me you use FireFox.  Can anybody else see Dennis's Smileys?

Yes,  I'm using both Mozilla and IE...

I believe it's my firewall blocking them because of the error message I get, although everybody else's smileys work fine.  You are off the hook, and I'll just have to wait until I get home to see your smileys

Hey you guys, I see the Mr. Dennis smilies.  On this post...........3m adhesive remover is great stuff, but pricey.......more than gasoline, milk and orange juice.  Everybody playing with their vehicle should have a can..Hummer Guy.  Try RainX on your glass.  There are different application types: liquid, requires lots of elbow grease; spray, easier; and, like a "towelette", just wipe it on.  This stuff is KUDOS.  You can run down the highway in the rain without running any wipers at all.  Keeps that winter road gerdoo off too, use it on the headlights.  Your glass will shine.  And, what the heck were you up to with that spray stuff, does it have fumes?????  J

Mikey..try disabling your pop-up blocker for awhile..these are advertising Gifs and that maybe why you can't see them....Course, you're a supposed IT geru, so you should have tried that already...
