At 42 mph on decell my H3 "slips". This does not occur everytime but when it does it is very noticable! I just got it back from service department #2 after a week in the shop. Service dept #1 "reprogramed" the tranny and that was supposed to do the trick. I left the first dealership because not only did they not fix the tranny but I was treated like white trailer park trash....I wasn't driving an H2. So tech at dealer #2 says it is normal as it is coming out of overdrive?? Anyone have this problem??
Had total on-star module replaced this last time as well. Currently have 11,000 miles on it.
I have a rattle coming from the front end that is more like metal on metal....no one can find this either.
500 miles on H3 and the battery went bad in my garage....GM offered to have someone come out and jump start me and I told them to come get the truck and take it back to the dealer.....bad battery...bad luck!!!
If I had paid full price for the H3 I would have driven it off a cliff already!! Father in law is GM retired. Still can't decide if the discount is worth having to drive around in a Buick LeCross for a week while my truck sits with incompetent techs trying to fix it.
This will be the last GM we buy!! :( I really wanted a H2!!!
By the way....anyone else have green??? Man I love the color!!!

You're the second person in the history of all the HUMMER forums I vist that has had this bad luck..And the other person resides here too..And in this other persons case, it was also an issue with stupid service techs...Fortunately all the issues you mention are Minor...The battery has nothing to do with GM as they don't make batteries and all batteries are not perfect...i.e...the infamous Sears Die-Hards die real easy. Delphi who makes batteries and are put in some GMs are also crap. AC Delco also makes batteries and the die prematurely too..So you can't rightly blame GM for a bad battery..Feces occurs with anything..Some folks like you, happen to have the misfortune of having all the little problems all at once...But rest assured, your problems are very minor..but you need a competent dealer/srevice to rectify them..Good luck
PS...I found through many years of dealing with dealer's service people, that a little friendly tact goes a long way with getting your repairs done properly, without them adding more problems with miscare of your vehicle....I'm not suggesting you are in anyway being a pain with the dealer..Only mentioning this as a general word of advise.

not sure what you mean by "slips" for the tranny, is it going back and forth between gears, or does it have a hard downshift? GM auto trannies shift slowly, and i don't think a GM "reprogram" will help that. not sure on the H3, but the H2 has a "memory" for the transmission, that will adjust over time to your primary driving conditions. that's why someone driving in a flat valley floor 90% of the time will notice an ugly experience climbing over the Sierra Nevada mountains once in a while. if you're lucky enough to have 2 hummer dealers close, make sure you treat one of them nice, or you're screwed. i can read a bit of "GM rage" in your email, so i would suspect that the service folks picked up on it and handed it back.
as for the rattle up front, have you checked the basic stuff, like your skid plate, or brushguard? even if the skidplate bolts are tight, it will still make noises when you turn, since the frame is stronger than the plate and it has a tendency to twist a bit.

Yea the tranny shifts like that. Its not slipping. Its a heavy duty 4 speed. When you let off on the gass and come back on you'll feel a little bump sometimes. its normal. And there is no overdrive.

battery will go bad in your garage from the onstar module not turning off before it drains it. Takes a few days. That why they change the onstar out? And why is your hummer sitting in the garage!

The HB stands for Human Body...and if you've ever eatin at a real Tex-Mex eatery..Then you know that your bowels are?..WASTED! and your MATERIAL is anything but SOLID! More like the feel and consistancy of LAVA

AC Delcrap batteries are notorious for going bad. Normally, on every GM vehicle, I have owned, the positive terminal will begin to leak acid. Corrosion on the frame, battery dies, etc.... My advise would be to replace that battery with an Interstate or Optima asap.. I had a new battery waiting in my garage when I drove mine home from the dealership, after purchase. While the replacement of another brand is not covered under the warranty, it's just good piece of mind. My $.02.

I don't think the H3 has the "Adaptive Tuning" you were
trying to say

..Never seen anything mentioning it...My Land Rover did though and I know what you mean..
I can tell you it was a hinderence more than a benifit..The reason I say that is; If you did a lot of putt-putt driving around for a couple of days even hours, it would learn that pattern of driving..then when you jumped on it, to merge in front of a semi-truck entering on to the expressway..The tranny was slow to respond in the down shifts and would up shift too soon...For that reason alone, I keep a roll of toilet paper in the glove box.
