Now, believe it or not, I am Mr. Romance when it comes to knowing how to treat a woman.  I am not bragging, but I just know what a woman wants in a man.  That being said, I want to take my wife on a vacation in May, but I want to take her somewhere she hasn't been.  In the two years we have been married, we have been to Oahu, LA, Beverly Hills, Vegas, The Carribean, and a exhausting road trip.  Anyway, I don't want to go crazy since I have my house to pay for now, but I have two free round trip tickets via Southwest that I can use, and I would for once like to go somewhere where we ARENT running around like headless chickens trying to do 100 things in one day.

I want somewhere nice and secluded, but interesting, like perhaps some mountain resort, or just somewhere different.  Not ever having someone in my life before her that was as adventurous as I, I really am at a loss as to where we can go.  I was thinking about a train trip via Amtrak to Glacier National Park, but I'd like to save that for next year or the year after.

So, that being said, hopefully somebody can give me some advice or past experience to share that will give me an idea.  She doesn't read the forums so she won't know what I'm up to, but it is going to be a surprise.  Kinda like our late Anniversary trip (long story, but we can't take a vacation on our wedding anniversary)

Keep in mind, I am 31, she is 22, and I have more energy then her lol, so , we are up for pretty much anything as long as it's not sky diving (sorry Nick )

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (even from the fellas).

It's definitely not out of the question in the long term, but financially, I can't really afford it right now.  I wish I could take her to Paris or Venice, somewhere different, but right now, I can't unfortunately.

You are under a great misconception..I know exactly how to handle them...Remember, I have 50 years of experience and I know what it takes to.....Well I don't need to get into it now..

One of my favorite places is OBX.  More specifically Okrakoke (sp?) island.  Totally awesome.  There was an awesome outside resturant on the sound side.  I just sat there amnd drank Iced tea and watched boats go in and out.  One of the most relaxing trips I've ever been on.  One funny thing to note about that trip.  I took my X5 down there. And right before you get on the boat to transport your vehicle to Okrakoke.  I went onto the sand and got stuck!  I kinda felt like an azz.  I did manage to push it out, but some local yahoo's with their old Chevy pickup truck with all of the fishing rods mounted on the front got quite a laugh.

ooppssieeee ... I just saw that you've been to Vegas. My bad ... Two suggestions for a relaxing trip:

How about going to the mountains, the North Georgia mountains are beautiful, there aren't alot of things to do. Alot of sight seeing, hiking, alot of really nice resturants, alot of the great outdoors to enjoy and breathe in some fresh mountain air. Since your the adventerous type you could go to lookout mountain, they hang-glide off the mountian. I personally haven't done it but, it would be a really beautiful trip down.

This would be my choice ... the Biltmore http://www.biltmore.com/ in Asheville, North Carolina. It is a beautiful place, very romantic and relaxing. They have a winery, 8,000+ acres of beautifully landscaped (would be very pretty in May) grounds with a huge lake. You can canoe on the lake, go horseback riding, ride bikes or go hiking. That would be a really nice vacation for me, from a female perspective that is.

What a nice husband you are!! Your wife's a very lucky lady!!

Dennis, I didn't say you couldn't handle them....I said Mike couldn't handle them and that they would kill you....a man only has so much stamina brudda!!

On a serious note, I would recommend Niagra Falls....it's a trip that you will never forget, relaxing, lots to do and mother nature at her best

You can get cheap air tickets on DELTA to NICE, the Monaco/St Tropez area is beautiful and I can find you a number of very charming, not expensive, hotel by the seaside.
Believe me NOTHING is more romantic than enjoyin a fresh grilled fish on the old port of St TROPEZ.
You're welcome.

want to take her somewhere she hasn't been.  In the two years we have been married

I'M GUESSING THE BEDROOM

Mark: I just want to say thanks for making me spit my coffee all over my keyboard.  It's really awsome to clean up  That's funny as hell (not that hell is a very funny place)

IK: Have you ever watched Beauty and the Geek? That is the story of my life my friend.  I always attracted the hot girls with my ability to actually LISTEN to them instead of you know what (although that came later and yeah always a good time there )

(and on a side note, my wife got her hair done on Sunday and told everybody there that "He's my little geek" and I'm thinking, ok a man that knows how to fix everything in the world, likes to dance, go out for drinks, and thinks every other woman out there is hot, and I'm a geek for that? DOH!  Apparently the women there thought that was cute.  Damn I already know I'm headed for disaster)

TigerLily: I will definintely check out those places.  That's exactly what I am looking for, although Niagra Falls seems cool too.  I know she's always wanted to go there.

Sugardaddy: Where is this island you are talking about? I'll have to search it on the web.  I haven't heard of it before.  That sounds like a good plan also.

We took a cruise two weeks after we were married, but she has been on about 6 or 7 in her life, and being only 22, she is sick of them.  I personally liked it, but found that they really don't give you much time to get out and do things.  I was a little dissappointed.  She is dying to go to Alaska, but again that's something I'm going to do when we can take a train ride through the mountains and get a room on the train.

The island of Okrakoke (sp?)  is part of the Outer Banks.  At the southern most tip of Hatteras.  You have to board a ferry with your vehicle and travel about 30 minutes or so.  It's awesome.  Very, very relaxing.  In fact, I'm into Pirates and the have a Blackbeard musiam there.  It's also where he was killed and his ghost is suppossed to be still searching for his head that was cut off.  Maybe Dennis can go down too and take some pics to see if there are any orbs!  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
