I just got a 2007 h3 without the adventure kit so it came with 265/75/16 tires. The goodyear tires that are on it don't look like they would perform well in a new england winter so i want to put on bridgestone at revo. that I have had before and loved ... my question is can i put the adventure pkg tire size (285/75/16) on the h3 without any problems ? Thanks for any help...

absolutely with no problem AT ALL. Just did it last week, i put on the goodyear wrangler silent armors, no rubbing issues at all. if u do some research on this site u will see u can go to a larger tire than that if u wanted. good luck

you can put a 35" mud terrain tire with no rubbing or ill effects. Base has the same suspension as the adventure, except for the shocks which has nothing to do with ride height at all.

IK, did you crank your torsions? just prepping myself while the tires that I ordered is coming in...

No did not touch torsion bars ... Would rather not mess with anything. So I guess it is safe to say that 285/75/16 won't have any issues..
does changing the tire size to a wider, taller tire have any other pros besides a lot better look to the h3?

Naluboy-
Yes I turned my t-bars 3 turns each. Once again...cranking the t-bar has NO negative effect on anything...you can even have your dealer do it if you have no mechanical knowledge. BUT you can fit 35's on stock rims with no t-bar cranking, skeet did it and has had no rubbing issues at all.

he was talking to me BTW

anyway, yes a taller, wider tire has advantages off road, wider tread surface means a bigger footprint, which is a great advantage in most conditions. Taller tire means more ground clearance, another +. There are other but you get the point.

sorry IK ... so I decided to go with the bridgestone AT REVO Its a great tire ..besides the price.. Another newbie question.. Will the tps reset themselves when they replace the tires or am i going to have to go through it and do it my self..I guess these things are a pain in the ass..

I guess you are using stock rims, so...if they mount new tires then put the rims back in THE SAME location on the truck, then no you will not have to recalibrate the TPS system. If they move the rims around, front left to front right...back right to front left..you get the idea...then yes you will have to recalibrate them. The process is in the manual and is very easy, should take 5-10 minutes to do.

The factory says not to use chains on any tire that is larger than 265-75-16. I would think about getting 315-75-16 tires if i was going to replace the 265's. Actually that is what i did, I got the BGF MT in 315 and the fit fine with a totally stock suspension. To me even my stock 285's looked too small for the H3's large wheel wells.

That extra room is for when you actually go offroad and is great. I use it all with my 1 inch shorter 285's. Alot of other vehicle owners would love to have that much clearance. View the large picture and you will see.

sorry, but I have and do actually go offroad and I have never rubbed or bottomed out with my 35's, neither have any of the people that made it through the rubicon with 35's. It's 6 of one half dozen of another, sure you have slightly more wheel well space with smaller tires...but you also have slightly less ground clearance with the smaller tires too

There is another issue when you go to these tires. The 265/75R 16 has a 30 psi cold reading the 285/75R16 has a 35 psi cold reading now this may or may not set the check tire pressure lite on. This is because you have low limit and a high limit for psi reading which may be outside of the 265/75 tire range. You need to set this up with a tech 2 scan tool for the correct tire being used. It may be fine but if it is not go to the dealer and have them set it up for you. You are also suppose to reprogram the PCM for a different tire size also. Steve

i have no faith in the tps system at all.....I don't even have the sensors installed and I have only receives the serv tpm message once. Definately not one of GM's best innovations

I'm beginning to lose faith in the tps myself.
With the colder weather, they were going off constantly..on..off.on..off.. depending on what the road was like. I finally pulled up all the reccomended settings and it said 35 psi...I checked and I had 4 at 34 and 1 at 33.5
Now I know it was technically "low" but I think 1.5 psi below reccomended is still safe... It would be incredibly helpful if it told me which tire it was complaining about too.

I am considering splitting the difference and going with a 295-75-16. It is 33.4" high, with .3" extra width over the Adventure size. My thinking is they won't rob as much power from the engine (as a 35"), yet they will still be a little bigger. I am considering the Terra Grappler by Nitto... but I have been a fan of BFG All Terrains ever since having them on a Toyota pickup I had a few years back.

Ive had my 315's on my truck for a year now ,, no problems other than a slight rub at full right turn. I took it into my buddies shop and the aligment hasnt changed. I did a 2-1/2 t-bar turn. No problems wheelin as long as I dont get crazy. I'll tell ya the look of 35;s on the H3 is way COOL! and worth the couple MPG's less and to tell ya the truth the power is still there. Go with at least the 33's, I have a friend that has them on his and it fills the wheel wells nicely. Just my 2 cents. See ya
